I don't think that we should have to pay for TVAs long term debt with constant rate increases. We need another provider. Why don't we use Oglethorpe Power Corp. like 38 other EMCs in GA. How about GRESO for supplies, is there a better rate for data processing, Insurance rates, etc.? Sell the mansion. Why should we pay for their Coal Ash lawsuit defense?

What part of "enjoy the EMC/TVA rates" are we enjoying? Now THAT was funny! TVA has earned so much that the CEO was able to buy 2 (that's 2!) private planes and a helicopter! Funny!

I wonder how many of those electric companies attach an inflated "customer fee"? Without the extra fees and a fully itemized statement we would and have had a decent rate. Hiding behind fees covers a lot of sin. We are due for quite a few more rate hikes according to our EMC. TVA has a large lawsuit to defend/appeal regarding coal ash. The $21.13 customer charge and $6.57 service charge cover some of TVAs long term debt. I think that it is time for the members to consider another supplier. It's like the mansion, they told us to p$ss off. Check other non profit EMCs and how they are run. Some do very well without scr@wing the member/owners.

The reason that GA places in the lower price rating is because only 3 EMCs out of 42 in the state use TVA. The 39 that use Oglethorpe Power Corp. ranked 10th best overall in the nation. All of the EMCs that are serviced by TVA have higher rates. Nothing but the most expensive for our members.

Some basic information:
GA statewide average $.1226/ Kwh
BRMEMC including goofy membership fee $.1217/Kwh
Neither includes sales tax.
What other electric company in Georgia has to deal with the infrastructure challenges that BRMEMC does on a daily basis? How many other electric companies have so few customers per mile of service line?
Both of those enter into the cost base.
Now, I agree that the new headquarters was was poorly located on property ill suited for the purpose it now serves. The cost of development was far too high and this prime location is not the highest and best use of that property.
Switching suppliers won't solve anything, but breaking up the TVA and selling the assets, which is an entirely different subject might be a good idea.

TVA power is high quality and not made in China so they have to charge more for it.

Yeah right. That's why they are going into hiding and moving their headquarters around to a small town in Kentucky, right? Ha!
