Has anyone heard that they are starting a gay/lesbian club and atheist club at the Fannin High?

Nope. But that is awesome if they do! School should be a safehaven for kids. This will be a good way for these children to find support in each other. Does the school have to support the ideals of each club? No. But how awesome that these kids may have a place to turn to when in need!

I totally agree. There's too much bullying and not enough support for kids in school.

If a gay and lesbian club is where a child needs to turn when in need than you dont deserve the precious opportunity to raise a child. If thats ok then where do you draw the line with whats not ok. No wonder this country is falling apart ONE NATION UNDER GOD will be sad to watch crumble after so many men an women died for freedom.

They probably need to turn to their parents. But let us be honest how many parents would totally freak out if their child came to them and said they were gay.

I don't see how words that were added to the pledge of allegiance in the 50's has anything to do with a support group for kids.

If FCHS or FCMS gets a Gay and lesbian club My children will not be attending and there will be law suits. If prayer isn't in schools then this isn't going to happen either. If we open ourselves up for anything goes then our kids are doomed to a hell... Thats the truth. God is coming back and all those who support it will answer to him.

God help us if you pull your children out and we might be deprived of a valedictorian who cures cancer.

One Nation Under God is not only in the pledge but also on us currency and every federal building in this country way before the 50's. If that affends you LaForte then I strongly suggest you go live somewhere else in one of those nations that doesn't honnor God and see how that works for you and your liberal ideas. Everything that America was founded on is based on God including our constitution if you don't agree you definetly will one day and again if you dont agree go live somewhere else we dont need any more over educated idiots trying to change the entire bases this once great nation was founded upon.

If FCHS can have a christian school sitting by the school and be promoted then why can't the students have a non-religious (secular) group? How judgemental and prejudice YOU ARE (only in Blue Ridge & Concerned Parent). Those kids that are becoming independent thinkers and breaking away from the pressures of religious dominance (free thought). Worshiping the supernatural should be a sin!

It's 2012, almost 2013. Your way of thinking is very dated and holding back humanity as a species.

Sounds like you're paying more attention TO the high school than you actually did IN high school.

That "under god" garbage was tacked on in the 50's to drum up more cannon fodder via godly patriotism. Look it up, people.

Also go take a look at what our founding fathers had to say about Christians and their church. You're in for a rude awakening if you've been resting on those beliefs your whole life.

I take "one nation under God" to mean that all other nations can be presumed to exist under faulty and inferior management.

Men and women died because they went to fight for freedom without first asking where they were going or why. Clearly it was not their freedom these men and women fought for because they are dead and have zero freedom now ---- which proves my point, look before you shoot. People shoot back.

Actually, it is "In God We Trust" that appears on money. This was added to coins in the 1820s, and it derives from "The Star Spangled Banner."

Young boys will march into flying bullets when they are overcome by patriotic fever and convinced it is God's will. Do you really think it was God's will that about 56,000 young boys died at Gettysburg in one day?

Every side of every football team solicits God's help. Do you really think God gives a dang who wins football games?

To be fair, if there is a god from the bible he must love to watch us all butcher each other horribly. More murder in recorded history has been done in his name alone than for any other reason. This God's will makes Hitler look like a cub-scout.

This god doesn't even have a proper name, which should make things easier once it is completely forgotten by history.

This entire comment is laughable & I am very proud of Lanius & LF for being as kind as they are being!! Please do your research on the history of our nation and the founding fathers before you defend them for something that you have heard or been taught by someone else!!! This is a classic example that confirms what my Dad taught me: "it's better to remain silent & be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it!"
