Great question. Christianity is proven to be false by science, why do all you dumb inbred mountain folk believe it?

Genesis is actually the only part at odds with science, blame the Jews for that part of Christian fundamentalism. History and archaeology are what killed Christianity's rigid literal credibility.

And it isn't just Blue Ridge, the whole country is infected with this plague of madness.

Wow, I just saw the first thread you started about Blue Ridge in general and was less than impressed with the impression you were giving of yourself, now you have doubled down on it. Please tell me you're just visiting - briefly.

Chances are they love Jews, turning their topic into an anti-semitic rant usually does the trick. Unless they are just repeating shit they heard.

Either way, how could I resist?

Interesting thought.
As to your second point, just a little Pavlovian, wouldn't you say? ;)

I'm Buddhist so....yeah.

I'm content knowing my religion didn't doom humanity to a thousand years of technological darkness and murdered millions in the name of an invisible man in the sly.

Pavlovian to be sure, however with such little activity on the board I'm willing to salivate over anything I can get.

When I make topics nobody ever responds to them. Of course it's usually me gushing over some television show I'm obsessed with, but still.

Oh you should start a thread about a tv show, specially if ya into Game of thrones!

I love plague of madness part. Christian fundamentalism might be caused by the rabies virus. Foaming at the mouth is consistent with both.

First of all, what name do you usually post under, "Amanda Huginkis?" Clearly this is not your real name. Secondly, wars & murders are carried out in the name of Christianity just for a crutch. It's so easy to blame ones hatred and animosity on something other than your own ignorant self. Lastly, not everyone in Blue Ridge are Christians. They may profess to being Christians but to be Christian is to be Christ-like and I have met very, very, very few that fit this criteria.

My point still stands. Islam is no better if not worse.

Faith is what you fill that void in your heart with in the absence of knowledge and wonder. In other words, if you actually believed that nonsense you were spoon-fed your whole life "faith" would be obsolete.

I have only very recently watched the first episode of "Game of Thrones" at the suggestion of a friend. I liked it but I haven't dived in all the way yet. I don't know names yet but the midget seems to be the most solid character. My favorite, however, was the creepy blond fellow who gave his sister to the barbarian tribe leader. He had such an alien demeanor, more cruel than the barbarians just in the subtlety of it all.

Hannibal was unexpectedly original and awesome, people bitch about Mads Mikkelsen's portrayal of Lecter but in actuality it's much more true to the books than Anthony Hopkins was. That series managed to make me cringe (especially episode 2) and that's no simple feat.

While I am certainly not going to deny the wars and oppressions waged by those both misguided in their application of their faith and those who used the faith of others for their own personal enrichment, that is an indictment of the individuals - not the religion. And the claim of a "technological darkness" due to Christianity is ridiculous. The argument has been made and can be made that it was the belief in a "good" and "rational" God that led believers to the conclusion that a "rational" God would create a "rational" world that can be studied and learned about through the application of reason and logic. As opposed to the beliefs of some other religions that the world was controlled by capricious and arbitrary gods to the point that applying reason and logic was a lost cause. And while meaning no disrespect to Buddhism, how does a philosophy that teaches that reality can be caused by how people think and act lead one to scientific inquiry and discovery.

And if one wishes to discuss belief systems or philosophies that have led to millions of deaths, one need look no further than communism. In the 20th century alone, communism has led to the deaths of over 100,000,000 people.
Soviet Union - estimates of 50-60 million deaths under Stalin
Communist China - estimates of 38 million
Khmer Rouge - 2 million

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind." Luke 10:27

Christians are called to use their God given intellect to better understand both the Creation that God made and their own relationship with God. There is nothing Christian about ignorance just as there is nothing anti-Christian about science and discovery.
