Sorry, I was calling her by the title virtually everyone else calls her on the "Wreck" site. She apparently is well known around Topix – Blue Ridge Forum and certainly makes no bones about her antipathy to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to his people.

As far as addressing a lady as "Mrs. So-in-So", I was taught to do so as a child by my mother. I guess it has stuck. I meant no harm. Actually, she seems to revel in the notoriety. I haven’t gone back that far, but apparently she “outed” herself on the “Wreak” site. One person – if remember correctly – called her frustrated and lonely. Maybe that is her problem. I don’t know, but she does appear to have a problem of some sort.

I don't know this LaForte persons. From the little I have read on this thread, he must be one strange dude (speedos) and, not unlike the unnamed woman we have just been talking about, one who revels in notoriety (faking his impending death and so on). Also, like the unnamed women, he appears to be an open blasphemer and an enemy of the cross of Christ.

I do agree with you that we should not say anything on Topix or in other forum that would reflect badly on the Savior. One thing for sure, LaForte and his fan both need forgiveness and salvation through the blood of Christ. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 On this, I think we can both agree.

She posted something that allowed people to do a little digging and find out her name and after that all those who disagreed with her started using her name in most of their posts. She did not offer it up. Most people come on these sites with pseudonyms. It allows us to freely express our views without fear of any repercussion beyond, at worst, a scathing post in response. Frankly, I found the persistent use of her name to be covertly threatening and an attempt at intimidation. And then you came over here and used it on a thread where her name had not been used . Personally, I think good manners was the furthest thing from your mind when you used it.
Regarding LF (or LL) and their views on Christianity. I'll leave that for any discussion I may or may not have with them "personally."

If you are going to refer to LaForte Fan, kindly use her "username". You come off like a stalker when you and some of the others on the "wreck" site keep using her name that was "outed" on the site. It's creepy.(and you really are not painting a favorable picture of Christians when you behave like this.)
My previous posting -- rather long, sorry -- was in response to Aggie23's posting above. Hers should be read first for my posting to make sense.

I wonder what would change if we were all in a room together looking at each other rather than sitting behind a computer. I think our discussion would be more fruitful.
As far their views on Christianity, they have put them them out in the open. My point was that they -- along with everyone else -- need Jesus. Can you agree with that?
No one, covertly or otherwise is trying to intminate the "unnamed woman".

Personally, yes, I will absolutely agree with you that I believe all need to find the Truth in Jesus.
And if I unfairly lumped you in with others in their motivations, I apologize. But if you look back at some of the postings on the other thread, I do not think you will deny the intent to intimidate that some reflect. I have had very "strong" discussions with some people on various threads and some postings are just vile. And I, personally, am very glad of my anonymity because there are definitely some people I have seen post on various Topix threads that I would never want to have know where I live. I am also inferring from your statement about sitting in a room, that more polite discussion would take place and I definitely agree. The anonymity that an online board gives one means that you can be very honest in one's opinion, but it also gives people license to be far less civil than most people would be if they were face to face or at least had their identities known. Honest discourse is a good thing, but the incivility is an unfortunate consequence. I will admit I have posted my share of scathing retorts written far more harshly than I would say to someone face to face, but I will not use profanity and I am trying to do better in my "tone." Once the name calling starts, any chance of actually convincing someone of your point of view is lost.

Who the hell turned my glorious 4th death topic into this Jesus Christ circle jerk?

Seriously though, I don't mind when my wife reads books I would never touch myself so religion is just dandy on that level. The problems come from the fanatics and the drones, the way things are going they will be about as popular as scientologists within a decade. They can all make a new cult when they combine their "young earth" and "alien warrior hero" madness to fight the evil forces of literacy and fluoridation.

Speaking of bashing Christians (literally), is anyone else obsessed with this "Vikings" show? Best thing ever next to "Hannibal" of course.

I'll ask you, Aggie, because you seem to be one of the more open-minded, reasonable folks to call yourself a Christian on this board...why do you feel everyone needs to be a Christian? I'd like to pose some questions/thoughts, but rather than lead you, I'll just let you answer that one, if you're willing.

The very reason I think everyone "needs" to be a Christian is, unfortunately, the same thing that angers many people about Christianity. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the light, none come to the Father, but through me." To a Christian, that means that the only way to Heaven is through acceptance of Jesus as your Savior. To those who are believers in a different faith (or no faith), I understand how that would seem arrogant and exclusionist - but a Christian simply looks at it as the truth. And it is for that reason that Christians will try to get nonbelievers to at least consider what the Bible says. It is out of love and concern for the nonbeliever's soul and their place in eternity. I will admit that I struggle with that concept. I know very good people of different faiths and I have difficulty accepting that they will be denied Heaven because they have not accepted Jesus. But I cannot pick and choose those things the Bible states that I "like" and accept them, but reject the things I think are difficult. The Bible either is the inspired Word of God or it isn't. I happen to believe it is. To me, that means it is the truth - and there can only be one truth. I am no Biblical scholar, and I am confident there are better ways to answer your question, but that is my attempt.

Fair enough. And I actually wasn't looking for an answer from a Biblical scholar--just an answer from a Christian. Thank you for your well-spoken answer.

I like that word "repugnant" because when I hear it in my head it's voiced by Sam Jackson.

Consider the Vikings for a moment, do you think god was on the side of the Christian populations they decimated almost at will? Or do you think maybe god was on the side of vikings to teach the world lessons in innovation and organization that nobody had a grasp of at the time? You need good opposition in life to stack yourself up against or you'll never know where you stand or what you really believe......with or without a sentient god.

Besides all of that bullshit, who's posts would you rather read? The ones from the weekend readers endlessly discussing the one book they (allegedly) ever read in their lives or something a little more spicy and adventurous?

The strange purposes of the Almighty are beyond my fathoming. What I do know is that while the Vikings, in a sense, conquered the Christian population, they themselves were, in time, conquered by the Gospel. God, because He is almighty, is able to take the choices of free moral agents (human beings), even very wicked ones, and turn them around for good. The death of Christ on the cross is a prime example. Wicked men put Him there, and they are responsible for their deed, but God overruled their act and used it for the salvation of the world.
Yes -- I grant you -- your posts are witty cleaver, quite unlike the run of the mill ones. I keep hoping someone will “out” you as they did your devoted fan.

To answer your last question, very respectfully, Jesus is Lord of all. What do the Sciptures say?

"Who, being in very natuare God,

did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

7rather, he made himself nothing

by taking the very natureb of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

8And being found in appearance as a man,

he humbled himself

by becoming obedient to death—

even death on a cross!

9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

and gave him the name that is above every name,

10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.

Those who believe in other scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita and Quoran look for truth differently. I don't know if those teachings require exclusivity as the bible does, but it is an interesting question. Either way is moot for me because I am far more interested in how people behave that I am in what books they've read or where they go to church or what car they get into to drive to heaven.

I knew it was easy enough to track me from my email address that I posted to get a copy of something. I wasn't worried about it because I have nothing to hide. I admit to a morbid curiosity about who would misuse the information.

Speaking of wrecks, there was another horrific one on 515 just north of the exit to the Pink Pig early Sat afternoon. A detour was set up until the accident was cleared. From the markers it looked like a southbound driver hit the shoulder and landed in front of northbound traffic. A waitress at the pig said she heard motorcycles were involved.
