There will be a Public Hearing Tuesday June 12,2012 6:00 p.m. at the 911 center, To discuss a Bond Issue in the amount of $600,000.00 for a new water supply system for the City of Blue Island.

The bond is to finance the study to determine if bringing water to Blue Island from Whiting, Indiana will significantly reduce the $2.00/going rate for water per 1,000 gallons is a good idea.
If $600,000.00 is the cost for the study, it is most likely not cost effective. We must demand fiscal responsibility for Blue Island!

Wait a minute. When the Mayor first started on this scheme, to make money for his FRIENDS and FAMILY, he and Alderman Potaska (who is up for election April 2013) told us it would not cost anything. We already have a water system in place, why waste money the city does not have. Mayor isn't the money from the golf course enough?

The City Clerk Pam Frasor Mayor Peloquin, or City Treasurer Carmine Billotto failed to announce this special meeting at the last city council meeting. If someone did not post this, we would not have this valuable information. It is just business as usual, trying to keep the residents in the dark. Sunshine is needed. Shame to all involved.

1.) Blue Island is broke.
2.) Blue Island wastes money daily and needs a balanced budget.
3.) Blue Island is currently selling bonds to pay bills.
4.)The golf course made ($5,000.00) five thousand dollars FY11 and about ($100,000.00) one hundred thousand FY12. Fuzzy numbers due to accurate reliable monthly reporting. Fresh ideas are needed for the golf course.
5.) Blue Island taxpayers and working families can not afford and should not have to pay for Peloquin and Potaska's water bond scheme because "Peloquin stated; it would cost Blue Island nothing."

Come to the City Council meeting tonight to see how the City is being sued for illegal evictions and bullying tactics.

Someone made a good point at the Council Meeting. Put this on the ballot in November and let the people decide whether or not this "study" should be done.

I would question if this "study" company is making a big contribution to the Mayor's campaign.

The council sorely lacks common sense as evidenced by the choices they make that are not in the best interest and do not follow best practices. In the best interest of the municipality of Blue Island it iis time for most of the city council to retire or step down.

Fixing and upgrading our current infrastructure is a much better idea.... a few more dollars on the water bill is not really a good reason to set off on this venture when we can not take care of what we already have. Sounds like another moneymaking scheme from here. This election cannot come fast enough for me. It seems that the powers that be are ramping up their quest to pocket as much as possible because they see an end to their reign... let us ALL help them out of the door and put an end to this kind of nonsense.

It's amazing how Don can always find the money to the things he wants to do.

BI doesn't have the money for crossing guards or to re-open the bridges but always finds a way to fund the money schemes like the arc plasma plant or the JAWA water plan. worst of all, Blue Island has put up with garbage like this for years and the council goes along with it all. No wonder we're broke in BI.

Yeah! I am ashamed and embarrassed to have ever voted for Carmine. This will never happen again. Next year I will work against him. He does not understand the Blue Island treasury, and refuses to set the city on a secure financial course. He needs to go.

Be mindful the interest begins accumulating immediately. There is no grace period; many municipalities have gone under as a direct result. Blue Island is currently debt ridden (in the red) and struggling to pay it's bills.
Blue Island needs a step down, retirement program, for it's public officials, who have not followed best practices or acted in the best interest of taxpayers, working families, and the public.

I wonder who you could possibly be. I wish we had some one as kind as you for Mayor. You have real feelings, you care about the long term affect mismanagement will have on the residents of Blue Island.

Alderman Vargas, and Treasurer Bilotto failed us with the aforementioned Bond Issue. They are in favor of wasting your tax money, money we do not yet have. Ask them about it. Will they give you half truths, or just lie to you?

Alderman Vargas failed at his duty to announce at the council meeting. This is his committee business, they did not want the residents to show up. He greased the wheels for this to happen.

City Hall really doesn't want the people informed. Why? The public will become more educated, request the intimate details, and then; Vote Against the terrible plans like we did with Home Rule and Electric Aggregation.

In April 2013, vote them out!

Yes, Alderman Vargas has Chose to be part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Taxpayer money to no bid contracts, appointments for various professional services, bond costs, no water source, failure to distribute the intimate details of the project could be considered a very serious problem.
