No,was mass was celebrated in Italian since the Servites were an Italian order that were posted at St. Donatus to serve Italians. You don't get it or you came over on the Mayflower and never had a relative who was English challenged. Do you get it?
Obviously you're like 5 and "don't get it". Maybe it's time you grow up?? I don't really care about any of your opinions or what you have to say. I'll be the bigger person and end this convo. Even though I doubt you'll be able to drop it.

All of you make good points but really? Why as church people do you hate so much. I don't think its the Mexican race's fault to anything. They did not come into town with guns and pitch forks and kick the Italians out. It was the crime from the blacks in Calumet Park. As you could see even the mexicans that can afford to move are heading out of that part of town. And if Mexicans did not go to any of the last carnivals it would be a ghost carnival. The Italians are the ones that abandoned their church. Get over it!
So everyone is OK except the "blacks" in Calumet Park who went on a crime spree and drove out the Italians, which led to the more sturdy Mexicans securing the frontier. As a "black" from Calumet Park I just wanted to say you are an idiot. The Italians aged out and died, Mexicans moved in. Mexicans, and anyone in Blue Island who can is moving out due to high taxes, poor city services, bubbling sewers, lousy streets, and the Mexican gangs.

Hey lady watcha you mouth. We are still here but not in the open like we use to be. We use the Mexicans as Soldataos. Their caporegime knows how to use them against the black gangs that think they can muscle our older citizens out. Let them try and see where it gets those punks. We know how to use "Persuasive " ways on these hip/hop gangbangers. We always did in Chicago.

When I was little I could walk quite a few blocks to the feast safely. No worries about gangs the neiborhood was Italian Polish there were 1000's of dollars on the saint and us Italians were proud to pay the money and carry it. My grandfather cooked for days and the alley right behind us is where the quarter rounds went off. I went back for my grandfathers funeral I would not want my kids walking to get to the church in daylight let alone at night people who took over the neigborhood have no respect and to not wish to coexist but rather have it be theirs it is not and Italian feast anylonger is is another memory taken over by mexicans. You mexicans wonder why there is resentment I'll tell ya. It is because you get to keep your culture while taking ours had you let people be and embrace some of our stuff while still letting it be ours and you be the guest as we are the guest in your things It would be way different. Look at your own history your Gang was started to protect your haratage not ruin and take over ours. let midnight mass be in old latin not spanish Just my opnion

you mexicans take over everything this is why your resented it used to be safe to walk blocks to the feast as a kid the feast is not the same nor is the neighborhood. This is why I have issues hell the gang many are in was taken over from a neighborhood protection group and twisted. If we refuse to change were rats and when mexicans wont change its keeping your culture.

You guys are right. Blue Island is turning into a shit whole. It's all because of the uneduated people in it. It's not just the Mexicans.

I remember living on 123rd and Western and at the age of 5 I was able to walk to school with my sister.

Sorry, but ever since the blacks moved in everything went downhill.

Well I'm glad you left. Please check your syntax and pragmatics

"Whole" should be "hole"

It is grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with "It's all because"

You can also use a comma after the number 5....which should be spelled out like this...five (especially when writing in the context that you did)

I took over a property that was owned by a white family before we acquired it. My neighbors state all the time how happy they are with us being their neighbors because we aren't dirty like their old neighbors. Anyone can be dirty, nasty or live in a rundown area, not just blacks. Please don't make it an unnecessary race issue. Every race has indecent people.

BRAVO! BRAVO to Paul Revere Parent 2! Very well said. There are a great deal of whites in Blue Island, like myself, who agree with you. Hopefully, your comments will shut down these racist rants.

I'm educated enough to know that people like this will soon perish! Thanks for the support. It is appreciated. I'm black, have a husband with four kids and we are both hardworking people. I like it here in BI and am here for the long run.

True enough BI has changed since I was a student in this community. However, it is up to us to make the necessary changes! You can't always run from your problems unless you are too weak to handle them. I'm an educator and I am most certainly seeking change. It'll happen starting April 5th hopefully....

WOW, look how this two year old thread has spiraled into areas having nothing to do with it's start as St. Donatus Carnival.
It is still alive and well and in planning for another great event.
As in previous years, 24 hour security personnel will protect grounds and people, safety personnel will be in place to assist in accidental scrapes and burn wounds, etc. visitors will be safe and entertained with nightly music as always.
And the pizza, beef and sausage sandwiches, clams, sweet bread, wings, tacos, corn ears, soda, ice cream, Italian Ice, beer garden and the carnival rides. Don't they always do all that? Don't you always come and stand in line at dinner time for that thake home bag, hurry up the family's waiting and hungry.
DOn't you ever think of helping them out? I bet they could use your help too. Everybody there volunteers.

Tell me when this thread is updated:
