<quoted text>Nope!...The argument(s) you presented was somehow shallow. Look at Washington right now. Very much divided right? But the government still works because they work out a compromise, they debate what's good for the people and not their personal egos or pasty's ideology.. Reconciliation works too.

Whoever wins apparently was chosen by the voters. All those workers you mentioned in your convoluted arguments answer only to the voters, who are taxpayers, who pays for salaries . The Mayor is not ultimately their boss but the voters who deserve the government they elected. If they do not work for the Mayor who was duly elected by the people, then for voter's, they shouldn't be there.
One little word changes a point of view. I'm sure you mean "If they do not work WITH the Mayor who was duly elected by the people, then for voter's SAKE, they shouldn't be there"...

Just for argument sake let's say Mr. Stevo & M's Pace Green do win their positions in this town...
How in Hell are they going to get anything done with an adversarial City Council? Adversarial municipal workers? A Police force who is well aware that he threw them under the bus at the CASA Event. And it will only worsen if Mr. Stevo carries out his house cleaning as he has threatened to do. We are facing 4 years of gridlock and constant in infighting. Nothing will be accomplished and this town's condition will only worsen. What businesses we have left will leave. This town will turn into Robbins or Dixmoor. I fear for that. Open your eyes people. Use your head and see the logical choice for what it is.

Reading and comprehension is a skill...please practice it. It will be a political reality. If Stevo wins it is because Tommy Brown & Vargas split the voters in 2 among them selves and the 1 left standing to pick up the pieces is Stevo. God help us. It is also a political reality that the City Council will be in majority AGAINST Stevo as will the municipal workers & the Police & Fire Department. It is not a fairy tale. It will happen.

The last time I heard was that the no-shows were very confident they already have the numbers,so why the spinning machines? STEVO is an underdog.
The municipal workers & the Police & Fire Department that you are talking about work for the people and are supposed to work with whoever is elected, no matter what you say,┬┐Comprende?

Very Informative!
For all of the years Alderman Vargas has been in office as alderman he has been very accomodating to the mayor, never failing to mention he was mayor protem. He consistently voted with the mayor and was silent when the 7th ward was selected as the site for the plasma incinerator with the plan to burn 4,000 tons of garbage and used tires per day. He went along with the pawn shop was also designated for the 7th ward. He supported the raise for the mayor, higher taxes, Jawa, the sale of bonds, and the shanagans at the Bread and Bottle. He did not advocate for the 7th ward, he did not speak up about the broken streets, sidewalks or parking problems there.

What exactly are Vargas' accomplishments?

If you can't do that QUIT and let someone who cares about Blue Island have that job. This is the problem now, more people caring about someones agenda instead of our City.

What are you smoking? They don't have to do a damn thing for a mayor if they like. They can do the minimum that is required or not do what is asked at all to make the mayor look bad. If the Department head agrees with the workers then it gets worse. The mayor HAS TOO PROVE they are not doing their job or a lawsuit will be filed by the workers. Haven't we had enough lawsuits in this town. The Police Dept & Fire Dept. can do the same thing. If they feel their mayor is not worthy of their support they can do slow downs or worse. It will be from the chief on down. Alan Stevo making both Departments and Municipal Services look bad has guaranteed his failure with support services. He can fire the lot of them and make it only worse...and he has threatened to do it.

The actions you describe are illegal would bring lawsuits and force Blue Island to pay unemployment compensation for individuals let go. Nearly thirty years of scare tactics and propaganda, has Blue Islander stuck because this is how the city has been run for so many years.
It is time for fresh ideas and change.

Domingo made things harder for the Hispanic community by not speaking out regarding ICE, Mr. Manrique, Mr. Salgado, and unfair hiring practices. We are so sad and disappointed.

CASA holding the event was like the DNC hosting a GOP event ! Useless, bias and content predictable. One only had to review past CASA posts.

people, this is exactly the type of fools we have trying to run this City. If a city employee can not do his or her job because they do like their bosses welcome to the real world. In the real world weather you like or dislike your bosses you still have to do your Fu**king job. Smoke on that fool.

The event at the Salvation Army was so the public could hear what the candidates had to say on the issues. I have read the Forum, gone to the BIIP website and got a card in my door from these people and I still have no idea where they stand on the issues.
The reason Domingo didn't come to the speak night is because he doesn't want to really talk about the issues. Since Bob Rita is running the show, he should be willing to go public on the issues.

No Sir they won't & don't have to. Work stoppages and strikes are a reality these days. You can bet your bottom dollar there is no "No Strike" clause in the municipal workers contract in Blue Island. I know a couple of guys and they went & checked it just in case. Boy if Stevo wins...LOL!!!!
