Blue Island drug rehab center sues to stay open

A Blue Island addiction recovery center that the city wants shut down because of licensing and safety issues has filed a lawsuit, seeking to stay open.

My understanding is the center did not follow the plan regarding the number of residentd, services provided and became a dumping ground for early release prisoners. The residents themselves filed complains about the center which, it is my understanding, was booted out of four other suburbs due to these types of problems.

I know the Mayor, as do I, supports rehab centers but when they don't follow their own application for licensing and refuse to follow City requests it's time to shut them down for the good of the clients and safety of our community.

Know your facts. Not a dumping ground for early release. Maybe at tops there were 7 idoc clients at one time. And no they still have a licensed recovery home in Harvey. No they did not get kicked out of 4 citys. Get your facts straight before you make comments that you know NOTHING about. It will all come out in the lawsuit. The truth will prevail.

And about the residents filing complaints. Let me address that. There are 3 that I know about. The reason they filed complaints is because they were referred out because they couldn't follow the rules or they relapsed (a few times) and refused treatment.

Not worried about those 3. Everything is documented.

It would be unrealistic to think everyone will like the place. As in anything, you have those who agree and disagree. The beauty of it all is that there are numerous other facility that might suit their needs better.

What about the other Half Way House that accepts early release????? Two of the 3 that want to complain were just kicked out of this Halfway House for not following the rules.
