A Blue Island teenager was killed Tuesday night in a car accident at 123rd Street and Greenwood Avenue in Blue Island, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Erik Rodriguez, 18, of the 13000 block of Seeley Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, the medical examiner’s office said.
Rodriguez was a 2012 graduate of Eisenhower High School, where he was involved in the Leo Club, an organization dedicated to helping students and others in need, Eisenhower Principal Gary Rauch said.
“He was a quiet kid, very polite, a good student and a hard worker,” Rauch said.“He was just a good kid, the type of kid you would like to know.
“It’s sad when something like this happens,” Rauch said.
Rodriguez’s family could not be reached for comment.
Blue Island police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

From what I hear both of the vehicles ran their stop signs at Greenwood and 123rd. Right in front of Kerr. One of the drivers was ejected from his vehicle. Did not have his seat belt on. The other vehicle had driver so drunk he did not even know there was an accident. Very, very sad.

This is tragic, but I'm disappointed too.
This post has been up for two days and nobody has blamed or accused the police or politicians for the accident.
I'm sure somebody has a conspiracy theory out there!!

I'm sorry, I don't think your sarcasm is appropriate. A young man with a promising future lost his life. Please respect his family and friends and not make snide remarks that don't even pertain to the incident.

The boy was pulled over earlier that day for speeding, but wasn't given a ticket. You would think he'd slow down... Maybe not so innocent?

I gotta say, I was waiting to see how long it would take for this to start up. I can't believe you were able to hold out this long.
Now this should get entertaining.

No, it's not okay. I didn't see anything on a drunk driver or drinking related when this story came out...

A ragic loss of life. Drunk driving ...speeding ...how fast were they going to be ejected? Cops pulled over one earlier in the day for speeding and let him go? Why? How sad.

I never said anything that wasn't true about the boy. It is tragic that this happened, but maybe if he was ticketed for speeding or wore a seat belt things would've been different.
And exactly, it's still under investigation. All I said was he got pulled over for speeding earlier, his own family was saying at the wake that he was a wild driver.
Did I ever ask you to explain anything to me? Ugh NO!!!! Obviously not since it's still UNDER INVESTIGATION.
