You guys are all on the wrong track, my money is on a very good honest businees man and he lives in town. Come September 1ST he will announce his position. First of all he is not going to give back tax rebates, he is going to invest in our town. He is not looking for a long term position, he will be asking for only four years. He will be asking his Trustees to vote with their best interest of the town, and not for his personal gain. All meeting will be video tape and open to the public. Trustees will be accountable for the departments and he will except them to bring them up to standard with all other towns.

Employee wages will be brought up to the industry standard, and will work forty hous a week, any overtime will be paid as reqired.

All department Chiefs or Supervisors will be making there own decisions and will be accountable for their budgets.

The ball Park will be sold, as a all in one package, building land and ownership. This money will be move into the funds to provide all our department with better equiptment, and proved full Health Insurance for it's employees.

This will free the village employees up to bring the town up to where it should have been Ten years ago.

This is just a start to a better and a clear view on how things will be given back to the residents and not the greed of the current Mayor and his family.

I agree that is the correct way to run a municipality from a government employees point of view. However, the residents expect to see the tax rebate. I think they would be open to a slightly reduced tax rebate, rather than eliminate it completely. Lets face it, all the public cares about is that a police officer arrives when they have a problem and the fire department arrives when they call. These changes, although necessary, would need to be slowly phased in.

Mayor Jane Byrne learned that her mayoral defeat was the result of a mismanaged streets & sanitation/public works department which could not handle a one snow storm. With that said, Mayor Bob Stranczek is one little bump away from mayoral defeat. All we need is an increase in crime or a criminal act that the police cant manage, a good fire or a snow storm to place Mayor Bob Stranczek in the past mayors book.

Although you bring up some interesting points, a viable challenger to Stranczek will force him to be more accountable and less arrogant. He will be forced to improve services, with real results. Espcially when he knows that his next stupid decision (Chief Theresa) may be the straw that breaks the voters back.

It took 30+ years to get to this condition in Crestwood, it will take a few years to rebuild the town.

One of the things that's important for any discussion of the economic future of the village is a true representation of current financial status of the village. I've never seen a village budget nor have I seen a year end report showing what funds came in and what was spent. If the budget is truly seen, perhaps some room for change is possible without touching the tax rebates too severely.

Once again it comes down to the issue of honesty and communication in Crestwood government. It starts with the Mayor and Clerk.

A simple answer is to ask for a copy of the budget. Under the freedom of information act you have a right to the budget. So this coming week go to the village hall and ask for freedom of informaion request and file your request. Don't come back with the excuse I am scared, I don't have time, the won't do it. Lisa Madigan will take action if your request is not granted. I will bet you will have no problem getting the information you want.

A friend of mine in the inner circle told me that if he's elected in April 2009 that Bob Stranczek plans to fire all of the department heads and anyone loyal to them so he could have at least four years of yes men.

Of course they're nervous. Lots of people are reading this blog. They know it... that's why they respond "anonymously" to it. They are worried because they can't control all of the leaks, they can't control what people are saying... they are worried because what they have been doing for so long is getting exposed daily. Their failures and misdeeds are here for all to see and more and more people are contributing. They are not used to the serfs speaking up. Gassmere can't put a lid on this.
