i had gary kozlowski threaten to turn my water off if i did not take a day off of work so they could install a water meter that they could read with a swipe from outside the house.(no one could do it on saturday)so my question is why on my water bill does it say estimate??????????

It says estimate most likely because the guy that used to swipe it from outside has been laid off or had his hours cut.

An estimated bill is better for BI because they can slightly over charge the each and every resident each month until they do a "Hard Read" at which point the city will have to reconcile and issue small credits back to residents.

If BI does two to three "Hard Reads" per year, that means BI can use the residentsí money (from overcharges during "Estimated" periods) for nine months out of the year INTEREST FREE!

Just my opinion but that is how it usually works.

If you think that's bad...ask a citizen of Chicago how their water bill is estimated. It would shame your complaint. Chicago estimates your water bill and inflates it even more...EVEN IF THE HOUSE IS UN-OCCUPIED! When they are asked how that's possible? Their response is..."Go complain to your Alderman."

Water quality in Blue Island (zip 60406), IL is 31 on a scale to 100 (higher is better). The EPA has a complex method of measuring watershed quality using 15 indicators.

IS IT ANY WONDER some don't drink Blue Island water?

Uh jesus(don't know which one) the economy is in the toilet if you weren't aware. As long as the economy is where it is, things are going to be in the dumpster for some time. Reversal is a pie in the sky dream. EVERY MUNICIPALITY IS GOING THROUGH HELL right now. Just trying to keep solvent is a challenge every city, town and village is facing and struggling to do. Let's keep a clear vision of what's going OK? Even Disneyland is having a hard time in this crap scene that the Republicans left us in.

the frasor peloquin team were advised a few years ago that the ECONOMY WAS/IS TANKING AND TO REDUCE RECKLESS SPENDING-because there will be NO more bonding out of debt. the frasor peloquin team were further advised that the bottom was dropping on property values home sales and new construction-
take a look at the new construction that did not happen on vermont st, fays point, orchard st, and western ave.

~~~~~~~~~Bankruptcy and Receivership~~~~~~~~~
could very well be a more positive alternative
Really!? And who was this seer you speak of? Who was it that predicted that the bottom was falling out before even the experienced economists knew? Please share your knowledge with the class.
Tinkerbelle? The Blue Fairy? The previous GOP administration kept saying everything was A-OK. They told the nation it was just going to be a hiccup. Well the hiccup turned into a catastrophe. And look how it has turned this nation upside down. So please Commentary, who was it that told Peloquin/Frasor about the economy going to the crapper.
Somehow, I think, the FBI has better things to do than to investigate Nancy Thompson's crazy antics. Yes, Nancy Thompson is at it again. I believe she spread the literature about this in her ward a week ago or so. She's asking for those interested to join her in a lawsuit. Talk about being part of the problem! All in all, this city isn't that bad, but all anyone, like Thompson, can do to get any attention is talk about all the "problems". And when "attorney general investigations", and "FBI investigations", turn up nothing they just find something else to make up and bitch about.
You forgot..........
Three and four years ago lenders began telling home buyers property appraisals were not in line with the sellers asking prices and therefore declined to approve mortgage loans.
That was the first rumbling in the housing market along with the refusal of lenders to loan to developers.
The government also stated BONDS would be very difficult for cities to obtain.
The current water bills are estimated and inflated because time is running out on payment of the Eight Hundred Thousand Dollar interest bill due December 2009 and donny has to get money from some where.
TAG the Blue Island Home Owners are IT!
Skip Paying water bills for the next few months and let city hall reel in reckless spending.
He can always get it from his buddies in the GOP. They are as bad as the juice loan guys in the Outfit. Trouble is he will have to give the naming rights of all the schools in Blue Island to the GOP.
