Forget test scores... do these kids actually know anything? Do they actually have the skills to live a productive life, either going to college, or trade school?

This is certainly something that should be asked of the school officials and board members at their next board meeting.

Hueser always functions as a predictable, single-issue advocate, and does not approach any decisions with an open mind, That would be horrible for the City of Blue Island. It is killing District 218. He canít make strategic choices for the well-being of the district and he has doesnít show any decision-making ability that requires analysis, the balancing of needs and concerns, or the ability to see the long-term implications of an action. He shows no respect and trust for others, or for the operating rules of the board. He does not understand the community and has no relationship with the public.

You will not be admitted to a trade school or college if you do not have good grades or test scores.

I have attended a few 218 board meetings and watched Dandy Randy's comportment. He seems to be all show and no substance. He delights in pomp and ceremony, such as recognizing students and faculty, but has little patience for issues of substance. Superintendent Byrne seems to manipulate Randy's resposes like a puppet master. Who will pull his strings at Blue Island City Council?

Why is the drop out rate so high at IKE compared to the rest of the state?

Because Hispanics and African Americans students are twice as likely to drop out as Whites and Asian Americans. The answer is if the student lives in Blue Island there is a 64% chance that they won't graduate. That's why. The studies are everywhere.

It is a school in Blue Island so I wouldn't expect much from students or staff. If you actually cared about your family you would not live in Blue Island.

Everyone screams on this site about. Tax money abuse but no one THINK OR REALIZES that our schools are the biggest tax drain. The teacher have been granted ANOTHER Raise despite the fact our schools are failing.OUR taxes have gone up over 7 times the drop rate, the graduation rate.Lack of enforcing residency rules and to add insult to injury. They are aware of it and in many instances are ever so gracious to let the student stay and graduate at taxpayor expense! If it was to come out of their pocket, it would be different.Or Yet, excuse even sorry excuse of homeless. but I wonder how these homless peple dress better drive better cars and who checks up well easy answer no one How about the cars that have city stickers that pickup their kids that are not even in district All of this is DISRESPECT OF TAXPAYORS AND THE STAFF THE DISTRICT ARE AWARE OF IT!!!. The whole lot disgusts me. If I could get my tax money alloted to school district and give it to my choice.Blatent disrespaect by the school being accomplices in fraud being commited there IS No excuse when will action be taken.

This won't work... any members of the district who are in a richer (lol) area of the community would never vote to consolodate with the poorer district.....

Johnny Holmes, Robbins police cheif is ticketed with second DUI in the last three years and is found with a flask of alcohol in his jacket. This would be the same Johnny Holmes that sits on the District 218 board. What gives? How can the District 218 allow this man to sit on the board for a high school? What are we showing our teenage children, that the adults they should look up to can break laws like driving under the influence when we are all trying to drive home the fact that it is never ok to drive when one has been drinking and this is a police chief? It is high time that this man resign his position on District 218's board. It is bad enough that they have hired a person that had been arrested for battery and now this! What is District 218 doing by allowing these types of people to work and serve on the board of this high school district? This is too sad!!!

Superintendent of 218, John Byrne, "WE feel very bad for him". Johnny Holmes has not been convicted of anything he says and can not force an elected official to resign. He also states that Holmes really cares for children. Then how about setting a much better example and not breaking the law and paying your dues for this DIU like any other citizen would have to do. According to this article, the Superintendent is already making excuses for such bad behavior. This is truley messed up, Anita Alvarez's office needs to be contacted.
