You guys seem great at finding stuff for other people to do. what about the stuff YOU can do. Have you volunteered to be on the Forestry Board? Have you volunteered for the weekend plantings of public spaces? P. S. The word is "berm".

Please begin immediately by making all of the untended/forgotten gateways into Blue Island more attractive. Candace and Mike can call on the forestry board and pitch in with the team.
Fantastic! Include the two aldermen in each of the seven wards for they will surely want to improve the wards they represent!

It is up to the elected officials to unite and organize the community. They have failed us. I and most people i know would certainly volunteer our time if we felt the elected officials were more involved with their respective wards. Instead we get more lip service from you blaming the residents for not getting involved.
Blue Island Residents

1.) Want the city be cleaned and monitored by our elected and appointed officials.
2.) Residents are cutting grass and weeding properties that do not belong to them.
3.) Residents want the public informed about ongoing waste and fraud.
4.) Residents attend city council meetings.
5.) Residents attend committe meetings for answers.
6.) Residents attend school board meetings for answers and want waste eliminated.
Just More

From me? A resident? So what you're saying is that you're not capable of seeing what needs to be done unless elected officials show you? I, and most people I know, will volunteer ESPECIALLY if there is a lack of leadership, when it is needed the most.

You are obviously connected to this train wreck of an administration in some way (and not just because you live here) You are saying that this person isn't capable of seeing what needs to be done? That is not what this person is saying you are putting words in their mouth and finally if you and your people will " volunteer" when there is a lack of leadership my question is " Where the hell have you been?"

The Blue Island community, homeowners, and taxpayers are underwater. Those individuals fortunate enough to have paid off their homes have also lost a considerable amount of their home equity. Blue Island is cash strapped. So why are there positions being offered with huge salaries and perks? Why wouldn't the 14 aldermen and elected officials ban together with their constituents and spruce up their wards?

No need to clean up,South town photo shoot done days ago. Look at Whittier school the grass is a foot tall, while the city writes the residents citations for it.

The taxpayers are paying people to take care of this clean up and beautification programs posters here are talking about. Did the people in charge of these things in City Hall asleep or burned out of ideas or just not interested in their work anymore. And we are paying them ... for what!

We are waiting for the banners to be printed up. We can't clean or spruce up anything , we always pin up our "look what we did" banner to show all how hard we worked cleaning up city hall or any of B.I. gateways.

You said it Charlie, B.I. had a five man crew to plant one tree in the parkway on Vermont and Seely. There is a three man crew to water the trees all over town

Riding around in taxpayers paid for automobiles, buds beside me at the wheel.
Overlooking what needs to be done, were just out having some fun.
Collecting a check gives the crew a little something to do.

What did Mayor Vargas do? Some facts, please instead of the endless, baseless, yapping.
