If you all have such a problem with Miles running for mayor and you think you can do it better then why don't you try to fix them? You are all on here trash talking, calling names and telling lies but won't tell everyone who you are? Hmmm, I wonder who is telling the truth here????

My husband and I moved from Chicago to the Willow Springs area a couple of years ago. We have met many, many wonderful folks here. But we are saddened to find Chicago style pollitics here.

Making fun and throwing out accusations while remaining annonomous is how elections are conducted in Chicago.

From the previous posts I can deduct that there are 2 candidates for Mayor. Both of them should be applauded for trying to be community servants. Instead, they are riduculed and called names.

I am sure both cancidates will bring good and bad to the position so they both deserve to be heard. Not abused by others from the privacy of the own homes.

I have been told that forums can be removed from this site, but do not know how. I encourage someone to remove this forum and start a new one. One that is objective and full of fact and not speculation and name calling.

I agree. However you feel about this young man personally, keep it to yourself. He is trying to do something that 99% of us including myself, do not do. He is trying to get involved with the town. Instead of complaining he is trying to do something. PLEASE REMOVE THE FILTH POSTED ABOVE!

Tin Man are you suggesting a curfew for all city residents of all ages. If so You must be some crazy ass liberal. You can't tell people they can't leave their homes after a certain time ... That is something Hitler did. This may be a washed up town but last I knew it was still a free country. Likewise, you also mentioned to have the city attorney "obtain" properties that are blighted or condemned ... who makes this determination and what right does anyone have to take away property from someone. You just can't seize property like that, nor can you just have check points for cars leaving or going to certain homes or pull them over with out probable cause. This is a violation of the law as well as civil rights. This would bring on many lawsuits and just the thought of it is communistic. This is a free country and I am tired of people trying to trample the rights of honest people in this country. Hopefully you will also go back to Kenya with this other socialist we currently have eroding our rights. This town is a joke and preys off of the people enough and it needs to end. If someone dares to change it I commend them although they have a long rough road ahead.

Here is my response to you what. I am not a liberal, actually I am far from it. And as far as my ideas go it was simply an answer to problems in Willow. Most of what I said is already an ordinance the city has or a procedure police sometimes use. It's just that they haven't been enforced or used in awhile.

A curfew is one solution to getting the city cleaned up. If people are out walking around at two in the morning chances are they are up to no good. I am sure even a simple minded person like yourself could differentiate someone up to no good as opposed to those who have a reason to be out. Enforcing a curfew would give law enforcement probable cause to stop and at least question a suspect. Last time I checked about seven businesses have been broken into in the past two months alone. This does not count the number of houses burglarized.

As for blighted properties yes if they are severly neglected, with no alternative to fix the issue, then they need to be seized and cleaned up. How many condemned properties does Willow have? How many meth houses that were condemned are rented out? Let me put it to you like this almost every city has an ordinance to seize blighted and neglected property. Why? Because like it or not someone at some point is going to abandon or woefully neglect property in a city. It sounds like you are content with things simply rotting away or becoming a hazard.

Road blocks done correctly can be conducted to reduce the drugs in a certain area. I say if you have a drug problem in a certain area set up roadblocks on roads going into that neighborhood. No one said anything about setting one up at the end of your driveway. Also most druggies cars have some type of violation therefore it would not be illegal to pull them over nor would it be a violation of their civil rights.

What I have said is nothing new and unless something drastic happens, Willow will continue to spiral downward into a cesspool. So you can call me a commie or Hitler or whatever you want because that just makes me laugh. If you're content with drugs and thugs running Willow that is fine. I, for one, am not.

Tin Man,

I do not think you are a commie or Hitler, However I do think you are an idiot that has no clue about laws, or much common sense.

First of all those druggis in town may have a few cars coming in and out of their house, but its not like they have a steady stream coming for hours and days at a time. And our small town only has one police officer working at a time most of the time. There are state laws that say when you erect a checkpoint there has to be notices and numerous personnel available and that takes time and coordination with other departments to set one up, because our town only has a few cops to cover all their shifts. you cant just set it up in a few minutes notice.

Curfews are against federal laws unless your under age then it falls under juvenile law. If you are 17 or older you have every right to walk around town at any time of day or night you want without being harassed by the police. Im sure the first time the police tried to enforce a curfew on you or someone you know you would be the first one to file a civil rights lawsuite.

Im pretty sure the burglers you speak of are not wearing burglar suits carrying bags of tools while walking down mainstreet. Im sure they hide and wait for the one police car to drive by before they conduct their crimes.

If you want to change these laws then run for congress. Or locally run for mayor, of become a cop if you think you can solve all the problems, but im sure its just easier to sit behind your computer and complain about what everyone else is doing wrong.

I think its awful that our town has been the victim of break in, and i hope the jerks responsible are caught and sentenced to prison forever! But I think we as citizens are also just as responsible and more than the cops are for making sure our business's are secure, and have adequate alarms and security systems. I also think that if we see suspicious activities we have to report it, and as parents we are responsible for knowing where are kids are all day and night instead of getting mad and protecting them if anyone dare make an accusation that they would do anything wrong.

Well cowardly lion I know what the laws are concerning road blocks. Problem with you and what is that you need thigs broken down for you so that you can understand how something like this would work. And yes there are steady lines of cars at some of these drug houses. So yes having LEGAL roadblocks every so often would deter people from frequenting these houses. Especially if a few people were rounded up. It only takes one person to get caught and give up his or her source so that a proper investigation can be conducted. So that warrants can be obtained to search a homve. Being proactive is better than being reactive.

So let me break it down for so that you know exactly how this would happen. Being as someone can't give a general idea of something. There is an ad ran in the local paper a few weeks prior and another closer to the days of the roadblocks. All reserve and active members of the police force suplimented by county sheriffs conduct the roadblocks. A person is found in possession of drugs. You gather the evidence and either turn them or find someone to make another buy to solidify your case. This would give you enough evidence to obtain a warrant to search the suspects home or vehicle.

How many underage kids do you see out past ten? I have seen more than a few. I think they should be rounded up and taken home. If they are out and all of these break ins are taking place who is to say it's not a juvenile? By keeping the youth, at least, at home where they should be in the middle of the night you could at least rule them out. So yes a curfew would work to some degree.

As for the burglars do you not think even the simplest mind knows they aren't just running around with dynamite and hooded masks? One problem is that police do not drive around for them to hide! Straight from Bob Pollards mouth is that they make more revenue to have city police sitting on the bypass. Supposedly there are two officers on duty at night however you do not see any police presence in Willow after hours. Hell just a door check for businesses and presence patrols go a long way to deter crime throughout.

I guess they call MO the show me state for a reason.

Also another point about the curfew. You pick up a minor for a curfew violation and later it is found out a break in or vandalism had occurred. Who is to say the juvenile did not aid or know who it is? Especially if they were picked up in the area a break in or vandalism occurred. Now you have a solid lead of someone that was there or at least in the area that may know something.

Seen on Miles Stillwell's facebook page:
Question from one of his friends-"what political party do you lean towards"
His reply-"I don't get caught up in political parties....but if I had to, probably house party, lol"

If he wins, do you think he'll keep beer on tap in his office?

You're right, he has the right to run for mayor. And, like every other political candidate, he's made himself a target for public scrutiny. People have the right to know as much about a candidate as possible, afterall, he wants to represent Willow Springs. Like it, or not, he brought it upon himself when he added his name to the bag.

I cannot wait until the public forum for this race. Miles will look like a bumbling idiot....maybe he can pretend he's at another "house party".
