We bought property in Sylvan Oaks and will be moving there in about a year. We are in West Virginia now.
I was just curious as to if Willow Springs is a nice community. We are interested in a laid back area, with nice local people.
Anyone know of any reputable water well drillers? What is the local grociery store and home improvement store? What cell phone service gets the best reception?
Thanks for letting me ask questions.

Several well drillers in the area. The area you're moving to? I guess you will just have to take the people as you find them, some strange, some not. Small town, Couple grocery stores, and one home improvement, You'd do better driving to West Plains or Springfield to shop. Centry tel phone. Last I knew, Elec lines werent ran to this property?
If its where i'm thinking, couple anti-social people live there

If you're outside of Willow Springs then you are a little better off. In my opinion Willow has a huge drug problem (meth) and a significant amount of unsolved thefts. Every city has it's share of problems however Willow seems to have a lot. Not sure what your utilities will be like as I do not know who your electric provider will be. If it's through the city expect to pay .03 to .04 cents more per kwh than someone that lives outside of city limits. U.S. Cellular is the best cell provider for this area. I had a better package through Verizon however my reception is far better with U.S. Cellular. As a previous commenter stated you would be better off shopping in West Plains for groceries as the local stores are on the higher side. I moved to Willow about two years ago and absolutely hated the town and school system. Now there are good people there it is just that the few bad apples ruin it. I moved to a different part of MO, a more rural local, and absolutely love it. If you haven't bought yet I would suggest looking at other places first. Also those who have bought in Willow and tried to sale later have found it to be nearly impossible. I highly recommend visitin this area first and get a feel for it.

Electric company would be Howell Oregon, however last I knew, utilities werent ran to there. I think the drug problem has invaded all rural area, not just Missouri.
The area you live in, is just about what you make it. And Topix IS a bad place to get information, I think its pretty well a cess-pool that the lowest form of life come to visit. Most are 12-15 year old juveniles that think they know big words

I visited and I absolutely loved it! You have a wonderfulland beautifull town. If you don't believe me, take a look at the Mannington, WV topix. Your town is everything ours should be, but the pillbillies, drunks, welfare babies, and money launderers have ruined it. I know drugs are everywhere, but they run our town here and the authorities that should be protecting us. Our laws here are so screwy, because the governor and his family have their hands in everything, so the criminals and murderers run scott free.
The locals in Willow Springs were so friendly and inviting. A far cry from what we are use to here. People are not friendly or inviting here. I was completely depressed about going back home and can not wait to be back in Missouri for good.
Be very thankfull you have such a nice community. It could be WAY worse.

It could be worse sure. But here is the problem...you passed through I lived there. I can say Willow has some major problems that need addressed. I have lived near your neck of the woods and yes that region is far worse. However I see Willow slowly progressing towards what the WV area is now. There is just as much corruption, drugs, etc. here you just didn't see it on your trip. Spend more than a few months in Willow having to deal with the city, school board, inept police, etc. then tell me how you feel about it. Unless your last name is Ferguson, Wake, or Bailey you will be treated as a second class citizen.

Good catch! I don't know how I forgot about the all mighty Waggoner's, lol. Not saying everyone with those last names are bad. But it sure doesn't hurt to have that last name when you need something done. Be it a contract bid, school issue, police matter, utility problem, etc.

We don't take kindly to strangers 'round here. But seriously, The Ozarks will chew you up and spit you out and you won't even know what hit you. Pride and arrogance have been the downfall of many an outsider. I moved here from California 24 years ago followed later by other family. They have all gone. To live and thive here, man or beast, you must be tough and humble.

For Elec. Howell Oregon, I think it needs a water supply-and then it depends on if the have to build lines? Best to call Howell-Oregon Elec for information. 85 years ago when I came here, it was a good place to live--now, druggies are prevalent

We had to delay the move a bit, due to medical problems, but everything is doing better and we plan to move between May and June of 2016. By them I should be cleared by my doctors.

I live in the same area, and mostly people tend to mind their own business--out this way, some are simply nuts--but other people are great
