Berkheimer charges the 10. plus about25.00 in their fees. One of the charges is 7.00 to mail it comes reg mail.

I FORGOT TO ADD ABOUT BERKHEIMER THAT THESE WEASEL TAX COLLECTORS SAID I OWED THEM 145.00 AND THAT WE DIDNT PAY I WENT TO THE BANK AND GOT THE CANCELED CHECK AND SHOVED IT DOWN THEIR THROATS AND MY ACCOUNTANT WANTED TO KNOW IF THEY WERE GOING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY TIME AND FEES BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE WHAT A LAUGH WE NEED ANOTHER BOSTON TEA PARTY RIGHT HERE IN GOOD OLE COMMONWEALTH OF PA HEY!!!!!! When I was double charged one year and needed to get my refund of my $52 fee from Berkheimer, they kept part of it. Even the IRS doesn't charge me to send a refund when I have been overcharged!

I have called, emailed, written berkheimer, but even though they list on their website that they have to give you the "taxspayers' bill of rights", they won't respond to my request. they just want to pass the buck to the school or city to answer my questions.

Who is this Berkheimer company? What a scam they have going, they tried to bill me for some school tax(like $21 plus a 12.50 handling fee) which I had already paid. Had to jump thru hoops to clear that up. Haven't heard from Berkheimer since.

berkheimer was busted for overcharging for their fees a few years ago...and I reminded them of it when they called for a payment of my per capita school tax. Every person living in a school's district has to pay a fee to the school district. Berkheimer is making a killing on the fees that they collect, and it isn't even owed to them, but the school district. I reminded them that they owed me for several years that they overcharged me according to the court and they shut up and diverted the conversation away from that. LOL

If you paid the extra $25 to Berkheimer you are entitled to it back. I am an attorney specializing in local PA taxes. Also anyone else out there who has paid a "penalty" to the $10 Per Capita tax, who wants their money back, please contact me. No charge to any of you. If there are enough we would do a class action.

In short, Portnoff $uck$. They make poor people's lives miserable daily with even more debt.
