Andy Harmon is a current Town Councilman. Mena and Harmon are business owners. Either is worlds more qualification than "she's just a nice person."

I'm sure Jenny is a nice person - but the sole fact that she didn't decide she wanted to run for Mayor until after filing does not look promising. She needs to run for student council first.
Andy is the only person in this race who actually knows what issues face the Town, and he is the best prepared to advocate on behalf of the Town.
What is Jenny Church's record on the affordable housing task force? Did she attend all meetings? Was she informed and prepared?
Ball is by far the best prepared to serve as Mayor.
I agree Andy Ball is far better inform and ready to serve the people of Boone. The town's people know it as do most ASU students.

In NO scenario is a sorority girl who decided to run for mayor just this week a better choice than a current town councilman, nor is she a better choice than (as much as I don't like either of them) two local business owners.
Okay, so a political science major who was born and raised in the town of Boone is not the better choice? Andy Ball didn't even graduate! Maybe you should read about where she stands rather than automatically assume that she isn't capable of being the town mayor. She knows what she's doing and she's not phased by people like you.

Very nice, but totally irrevalent. Being mayor is not for someone without experience.
Hope, I think you're a crazy dumb broad and you need to stop hating! You have the same argument for everything! Andy ball is a turd and so are you!

I am a town of Boone resident and someone who has known Miss Jenny Church since she was a little girl. Her mother Ms. Angela Church was a dear friend and an amazing person who gave back to this community every single day, in either donations, scholarships, or anonymous sponsorship of children in our schools to be able to attend extra circular functions. Jenny was raised well, and carries with her, the spirit of her mother. I know very few people that have lost both of their parents tragically in a six month time span at age 20, didn't miss a beat of school, and still cares for her younger brother. All I can say is WOW! This girl is a task master who's passion is government and making this town an amazing place to live and work. I just think the TOB has nothing to lose with forging a new path and giving this young girl a shot. It may be the best thing that could happen. This town needs an awakening, and who better to give it than and young woman, uncorrupted, fresh out of school, ready to take on the world and give every bit of herself to this town. With all the negativity on here, I am almost beginning to think we might not deserve her.
I don't know Boone needs a nice mayor given the types of scum one needs to deal with.

At least we know Andy Ball has the experience to deal with the dredges of society.

I say let's give her a chance. Andy Ball has been a joke and a laughing stock the whole time he has served on the town counsel. The other people in the race don't seem to have a chance in hell. If we get behind Jenny then maybe we can begin to start changing the way things are being done around here.
You can't possibly agree with the way Boone operates in secret with closed meetings and hiding information that is supposed to be public!

It's not enough that you just vote for Jenny. We all need to talk to our friends and get them on board too.

Boonie, you got it right. Glad to know others are on board! To change Boone we must all work together. That's Jenny's whole message. I'm proud of her.

My problem with Andy Ball is he doesnt have any vested interest in Boone. He doesn't work here. He isnt from here. He doesn't know anyone here but democrats. All the committees, all the boards, every thing he serves is democratic party related. Andy cares nothing about Boone. Andy wants to move up in the party and he thinks being mayor is he ticket. He does whatever the Williamsons tell him to do. Put simply, he is just another politician. Harmon, Mena, and Church all have real interest here. Personally, Im going to write-in Jenny; but Id rather see anyone win other than Andy Ball. We're merely politics to him.

No, she cannot beat Andy Ball.
1) Her organization on the ASU campus and in town pales when compaired to Andy Ball. She will not be able to turn out the vote.
2) She has no sense of campaign when compared to Andy Ball. For example look at her signs. They are so poorly done they cannot be read unless one is feet from them.
3) She lacks the financial support Any Ball has and thus cannot compete with him when it comes to using the media or organizing events.
4) She is an inexperienced woman who could not make up her mind when it comes to doing things as simple as deciding to get on the ballot. What would she do if there is a snow emergency, hid under her bed.
5) She is too young to be mayor.

Jenny Church studies campaign science and is graduating with her degree this semester, unlike Ball whom dropped out. She did not want to be on the ballot. She did not want to run for mayor. I think she has made that more than clear. However, she realized no one else could beat Andy Ball. Every one knows he is a pawn and is using Boone to get further in his party. Jenny knows more about Boone than any one of the candidates. She is from Boone and grew up here. I have known her since she was a little girl and now have the privilege of being her professor. She runs away from nothing and has overcome great tragedy and obstacles. Don, you are a fool to believe Jenny is unaware of the uphill battle she faces. You are wrong to assume she is too young. And you are a fool to believe she didn't know when registration was. Jenny had no intention to run for mayor, but she knows things need to change and Andy Ball is a fraud. If nothing else you need to stop being a bully about it. All of you do. What she is doing is admirable. She knows it's hard to be a write-in, trust me we all told her its nearly impossible. She is running based on principle and to beat the party politics that have taken over Boone. You are so misguided not to commend that.

Unless one is able to apply the lessons of college to the real world college is wasted. College was wasted on Church as she has demonstrated an inability to develop a campaign let alone make decisions.
Andy Ball has learned from being on the Town Council and would make a great mayor.
Church may be a nice girl, but it takes a mature person to lead a town.
Since you have known her since she was a little girl, which she still is, what has she promised you if she was elected.
Professor Freakonomics the only thing you have right is that she faces an uphill battle. The reason for that is all of Church's weaknesses and Andy Ball's strengths.
Andy Ball will be our next mayor.
