Vote Smart

I read this candidate's editorial at hcpress.com and believe there is no better choice. She's got more common sense than all the rest put together. I had reservations about her age, but she impresses me more every time I hear something from her.

We need an independent, strong-willed mayor. She will represent Boone well.

I urge you to vote smart, Boone. Write this young lady in. Jenny Church is the best choice.

I would rather vote for Andy Ball!

I hate to say it but the only person worse than her would be harmon and that is only because hes really weird. Shes a nice girl but need s few more years before trying for such a position. None of them are really any good but Ball seems like the only electable one out of them and knowing what he is doing. It would be like myself vs foxx i cant stand her but she knows the job better than me, i have no clue what the heck i would be doing so im not suited even though she is awful.

It seems that you're saying if you vote for Andy it wouldn't be because you actually like the dude, but because he's electable. It is important to mention that Jenny, Brad, Andy and John have all never served as mayor so it's possible to conclude that not one of the candidates truly "knows the job." Loretta decided not to seek re-election... if she did, then she would be the only electable candidate by your standards because she has mayoral experience, and "knows the job."
To compare Jenny's campaign to a hypothetical election involving yourself and a member of Congress is not a fair image, but the comparison of Andy Ball and Virginia Foxx was funny. Perhaps your standards to determine electability need adjusting.

No i would just rather trust a person who is a adult and has many years of in the field they in vs someone who has no idea what they are doing. Most college students cant even hold a job in fast for more than a few months. She could be a nice lady but she seems like she lacks the ability to do the job well from her answers. Just too naive for the position. Mena and harmon are both a little weird and would go too far to the left or right in being elected. Ball though liberal has the best ability to do a decent job with some idea of what he is doing. Its a lot like driving a bus, would you trust a 40 yr old guy thats had his CDL for 20 years or your 16 yr old daughter, pretty easy choice.

You are correct none of them have served as major. But Ball, Mena and Harmon all have move experience than Church. Ball has served on the town council and knows what is going on in Boone. Mena is a prominent business owner who understands what it takes to get things done and the limitations on government. Harmon comes from an old Boone family and likes to stand in front of his business in his confederate uniform waving his hand. Church understands nothing about government but from a textbook, and has demonstrated poor judgement in that she could not even get on the ballot. Bottom line, Ball wins.

I've still yet to receive a good answer from Church supporters as to why I should vote for someone who couldn't perform the very simple task of filing for candidacy and getting on the ballot.

It seems as if she saw that everybody who did sign up would be bad for Boone.

I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around why people are trying to use no being on the ballot against her? Is it fear? Is it lack of having anything truly bad to say about Ms. Church? She has made it abundantly clear she had no intention of running in July. She published an editorial explaining her position on the issue.

There was no good choice before her. Andy Ball is disliked by many of his own party. Jamie Leigh and Allen are quitting because they are tired of the way the Dems and Andy run Boone. John Mena is a megalomanic.

Jenny Church is the best candidate for mayor. Period. DsS32, come up with a better reason not to vote for someone rather than "they didn't get on the ballot."

She is just not ready for the job. It would be like myself trying to fly a place only having some minor helicopter training. She should do a few more years of learning in and then she might be ready. Far too you and not ready for such a position.

How about her complete lack of experience. Or the fact that she went through the entire candidate's forum without taking a solid stance on anything. Or, based on what she did say, she's just as anti-ordinance and pro-unregulated development as Templeton and Mena.

And on a personal level, since all the discussion surrounding the candidates is personal attack bulls**t anyone, I will not be voting for anyone who spent her entire opening speech talking about how she plans to work for the "Lord Jesus Christ" as mayor.

I was at the candidate's forum the ASU SGA posted. Jenny displayed a clear lack of understanding of the issues. Every other candidate understood what the question was referring to when housing regulations were mentioned.

Judging by the way things have been going, I don't think any of the "experienced" candidates know what their doing, either.

Jenny Church is really doing a pretty good job in her campaign. I dont see how she can win because a write in candidate isn't even on the ballot so everbyody would have to know her being wanting to run and write her in. not likely to happen. andy ball is going to be our mayor and that is a shame.

Jenny has 3 strikes against her.
1. She isn't on the ballot
2. She has no political affiliation to help her
3. She has Deberah Green supporting her

Too bad because she might have made a decent mayor but it's hard to get elected as a non partisan when you have to have your name written in and you are backed by one of the craziest people in town.

Personal problems with someone don't translate into the quality of a candidate. I am an anti-Deb Greene Republican and I like Jenny. Wouldn't hold Deborah against her. It's not really her fault someone supports her.
