It amazes me that Andy Day is Chief of Hudson PD.

It seems that they all need to clean house and start over. Even the new LEO's are corrupt. That's what you get when you have the old timers teaching BLET.
say what?

This story is ridiculous. If it appraised at 2.8 prior to the recession I think it would still appraise at 1.8-2.0 million and they are entertaining a 850k offer with cost up to 500k to replace the range elsewhere, leaving roughly 350k disposable income from a 2.0mill property. Give me a break, someone has greed on their mind.. Plus why is it suddenly their property is worth less because of the economy and according to my tax assessment/bill mine went up?? Sounds like the whole damn crowd needs to be replaced with some common sense people.

Good point. 850k seems like a low bid, even if there are cleanup costs associated with the purchase.
hold it

Exactly how do they even entertain such an offer when they sure as hell would tax it at full price if it belonged to you or I. According to them my property isn't worthless, can I explain to them about the real estate bubble and get my value dropped for a while? That property belongs to the taxpayer and it is in our best interest for the city council to get as much for us as possible for our land. its not costing us anything or hurting anything otherwise just setting there.

The property will be turned into a development with outrageous prices per lot. When the real estate market returns to normal the investor will make three or more times what they invested because or city needed fast cash. Just set on it for future profits.

Listen citizens, watch the city council and county commissioners closely during this incident. This needs to be considered long and hard before making any decisions. Write them or address them personally as to this situation and let them know how you feel.

I can guarantee you the City will NOT accept 850k for the property. Like others have said it just isn't worth it.

I think, as citizens, we should make a few calls and let people know this isn't right. What do the potential buyers want to do with the land. Someone mentioned that land/homes had decreased in value since 2008. I have heard that the price have risen some recently. Besides the interest rates have lowered which should offset a higher cost for land. Please, everyone, you have a voice and now is the time for how your dissatisfaction and anger.
