Almost all the units there were broken in to within the past week. We were relieved of power tools, air conditioner, furniture and collectibles. The thieves cut the hasps off the doors of the units they couldn't cut the locks off of. The sheriff's department has a couple of leads on who it might be, but nothing for certain. Anyone who might know of someone that has recently come up with a variety of stuff for sale please post on here or call the sheriff's dept.

Stop and think long and hard. Who would need power tools and stuff like that? I've heard several folks over the years since R&R has been there say their stuff got done the same way. HMMMMMMMMMMMM. After they get it over the county line it's harder to get a conviction. What did the owners of the building say about the robbery -- this time -- or could you get in touch with them?

It was hard to get in touch with them. We called around 7 and was told to call back the next day. The owners don't care. The first thing the old woman said was they were not responsible. We had round locks but the doors and hasps had been pried so many times it was easy to open the doors. All I heard was she's 84 and her son is a disabled veteran. If they can't properly maintain the units they don't need them. I am checking with an attorney because the owners haven't even come out there and repaired the doors so they can be securely locked. There are security cameras located nearby and I know the tapes are being reviewed. Hopefully someone knows something and will be honest enough to come forth with details. There was furniture and appliances taken, folding tables and chairs, clothing and other stuff that could be sold at yard sales or flea markets. A total of 29 units were broken in to. If anyone knows anybody that has recently come up with stuff for sale please come forward. Rewards are offered.

Hint, Hint. Maybe the cameras were stopped during the robberies. Owners son works in construction. Just how/when wa he disabled and to what extent? Not saying he wasn't, but he is never at home. The old woman built the units for the son to have residual income, but he doesn't do much of anything because he's supposedly out of town on a "job". They don't need the units. Did she tell you that if you have homeowners insurance it will probably pay for it? Once they get an insurance companys investigator onto it they will be really investigated. PS: Things can be sold out of state and never recovered. Don't know if that is the case in these situations, but there are just too many things going wrong over there at those units. It's like a theft ring. I have a storage unit built at my home after I heard about the place being so unsafe.

She told us her son was in a wheelchair. Also, that units they own in Valdese were broken into. The cameras weren't on the property. They are at another place close by. She said they live on a fixed income and can't afford cameras. That's why none are there. She has a maintenance guy that supposedly takes care of the place. At this point I don't know what to think. Nothing was mentioned about our homeowners insurance but I will call my agent today. She got all bent out of shape because my husband threatened a lawsuit. Thanks for the info.

Several years ago I had a lot of things stolen from the storage units on Nuway next to K&S Sprinkler. SEVERAL UNITS WERE BROKEN INTO, NOT JUST MINE. As far as I know nothing was ever done. Noone saw or heard anything. There were several truck loads of missing items, yet noone saw anything or noticed trucks loading in the middle of the night. LPD probably rode by several times, shining their spotlight on the building.
I did manage to get part of my money back from my homeowners insurance, but they were not overly willing to
listen to my value of new OEM parts for a car I was going to restore. New OEM parts were not available, so they used value of reproduced parts. Be prepared to argue with them about the value of your loss. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

If Butch is in a wheelchair that's just happened recently over the past few years. She built those places to provide residual income, the fixed income is BS. If she's 84 she is able to work and earn as much as she can earn without risking her SS or whatever. Their last name is Reep and check out that name in Valdese. It's about equilivent to the name Bernhardt and Broyhill here in Lenoir. Check them out.

If they own a business, they inherently do not rely on a fixed income...

That's right. She gets that ole hair fixed, dyed, curled up, and those nails painted. They're crooked to the both and Butch is dumb as a rock. The old woman rules the roost.

She did say that the units in Valdese were broken in to also. Maybe her and the son are behind this.

Or someone they know. On last count I heard that the son was working with a construstion crew that moves around. He comes home regularly. His wife had left him. About him being a veteran. Lets see, she's 84. How old would that make him and what war would he have fought in? Maybe Desert Storm or Desert Shield? Say he'd be about 60 to 65? Nam? It don't figure up. They have land everywhere. Also, check about doing a long form on your taxes and see if you can take off some or most of what you lost. What a mess and it happens over and over. I know for a fact that someone who is liscensed in security offered to put in a camera, dvr, and remote set up where everything could be recorded and even watched live real time from a computer. That person was going to do that for free rent on a couple of buildings. She told him nothing ever got stolen out of there. It was a safe place. Another thing. You never see an auction or a yard sale out there either. Does all the stuff get stolen before someone can abandon their stuff?
