What locally owned / operated business do you miss?
What was it and what made it so great?
Do you blame Wal Mart for making many mom and pop businesses go under?

I avoid wal-mart … unless I am getting a good bit of items that i know I will save $$ on.. Dread it.. and I don't get a cart unless I have too.

Perry's Fish Camp from way back in the day,
Aim's Department Store, Woolworth's, Ray's burger joint, The Big Rebel, Rose's Department Store (because I loved running up and down the stairs there when I was a kid), and the whole Lenoir Mall right after it first opened.

sorry, forgot to say why I liked these places.

Perry's Fish Camp was the one restaurant my family went to when I was a kid-a once a month thing, so that made it even better.

Aim's Department Store-I remember being a little kid and picking myself out a dress with lady bugs on it there. Just a happy memory I guess.

Woolworth's because they had a little bit of this and you didn't have to walk through the whole mall to get there if you didn't want to.

Ray's burger joint because they had some pretty awesome burgers back in the day-it's hot dog counter part would have been Jerry's Dairy Bar.

The Big Rebel because of their sundrops served in Styrofoam cups with a certain type of crushed ice.
(I was a kid).

Roses as I said before, because I ran up and down the steps.

The whole mall right after it opened because there was so much potential there and so much to do under one roof...and then it went to pot.

I miss the 1890 club. There was a girl there that made good money "servicing" men and sometimes women. Can't remember her name but I think it was Bunny or Bonnie. She was hot. All of u used to get drunk and

I miss the I-40 rest areas that near Icard. I used to stay quite busy on the candy canes.
