Calamity, thank you, I much prefer "Sir" to "idiot". Be careful, you are starting to sound as though you are not as "fogged in" as I had thought. If you were present at the 7-9th meeting, you will perhaps recall that a man wearing dark sun glasses spoke up to stop the attack on the board; ...guess who! Have a great day!

Don't go patting yourself on the back. You seemed rather obnoxious at both meetings.

If you're truly a junior firefighter like your name implies, I don't expect you to completely comprehend what is going on. If you have firefighters deciding how to spend money for themselves, it opens the door for wasteful spending. Look at what Chief Parsons did. He wasted money on things that were completely unnecessary. It was "want, want, want". It is simply ignorant to put firefighters on the board. Maybe my view will change down the road, bit not until the department is cleaned up.
yes I am a jr. and FYI we do understand whats going on because we r part of the fire department and we have to learn and go through everything they r ...just saying ,,,,and we needed all that stuff that mark asked for...but yall don't understand what we need cause ur not one of us that's why its hard to explain to yall ...and it would be great to have someone who knows what we need to desied weather to let us have it or not ,,,,

As much as I would love to try to decipher another post of yours, I'm going to have yo answer the question for you.

If the only request that has been denied is a single four wheeler, what is the problem? Do you need a four wheeler that bad? Is it that important to you guys?

Joe, I have no interest in patting myself on the back; only trying to learn where my tax $$ is going and why! I respect your right to express your opinion of me. I find it disappointing that more people did not speak up; what was it that you had to say? Take care and have a good day.

So, with the comment that "the only thing that the BOD denied was a 4 wheeler" you are admitting that they approved everything else. Including the truck, the painting, etc. If everyone would just admit that this was a bunch of bull made up by certain members of the board because they were threatened that they would lose their positions if active firemen were appointed to the board this whole thing could be over with and our community could go about their business.

No, I am not admitting that. The board can't approve is disapprove something if it isn't brought before them. Like the truck and painting.

How can you honestly think that the truck was not brought before the board before it was purchased??!! That is ludicrous!!

So you admit that the painting was done without the boards approval?
See how that goes?

The truck was the larger expense. That is why I referenced it. The board would have to have given permission for the check to be written for the painting also. This just seems riduculous to me for anyone to think otherwise.

A secondary fire house stationed in the wildcat ridge rd area... oh yea for two years they denied that from happening. and maybe all the people who live in the area of mount paron church to Dale Green's pond are not scared but I am. I will loose my fire insurance coverage due to the ISO rating if a secondary station is not put in to cover the five mile distance from the station in deep gap. maybe thats not scary to you but thats major cash out of our pockets!!!

I'm not opposed to a substation in that area. They can sell the old fire department to help pay for it. It doesn't make sense to have 2 buildings less than a quarter mile apart.

Young man, or lady, whichever be the case, you have much to learn. If you really wish to become a certified firefighter in the years to come, there will be many hours of reading and testing which will require a lot better grammar skills than you currently have shown to have. This is not to put you down or degrade you, but to encourage you to work hard to improve these things so life will be easier and more enjoyable in the years to come. Communication skills and quick thinking are two skills that a firefighter can't survive long without. Be careful as to who you let influence you during conflicts such as these. Watch and listen closely and you will soon learn who can be trusted and who is in it for the right reasons. They are the ones who do the jobs that no one else will do, the ones who are still working when everyone else has went home, the ones who don't draw or ever seek any attention for themselves. These are the ones you should pattern yourself after, and I can tell you that they are extremely few and far between especially on this department from what I hear. It is sad that it has become this way.

They can not "sell the old fire house" When the land was donated to the fire department it had a covenant - if it is never used as a fire department it reverts back to the grantor.

I really don't think you will loose your fire insurance because other fire dept rating is the same as Deep Gap. If that be the case everyone in the district would have thirs cancelled. My insurance co has not even mentioned it

Why would your coverage suddenly be affected? Is this another ploy by Mark to get people on his side?

I heard today that Mr. Parsons is no longer chief and is probably gone from the department. Haven't heard if anyone else has gone also. Seems to be very quiet and hush hush even on here. Maybe the good guys are winning and the whiners are gone. Hopefully this time the ones that really needed to go are gone and the dedicated true firefighters can stay this time, instead of having to leave as they have in the past. If the news is true then congratulations to the BOD for taking a stand.

Dedicated firefighters wouldn't have left anyway!! What you should say is congratulations to the busy bodies and rumor mongors for making the community doubt the firefighters and the hard work they do.
