Also there was a state trooper and sheriff down near the lady but other cops came to the scene. Not sure why but it doesn't matter who got there first the man did not make it. Also he did not die instantly. My cousins bf ran to him after the shot and he kept trying to lift his head and gasping for air and moaning.

Almost all news media newspapers, radio and TV have a policy not to report suicides.

There are some units patroling on the weekends...but there is nothing they could have done. He parked...walked out to the bridge and it was over quick.

I heard it may have been an older gentleman...and yes it is sad for anyone to have to reach that level of pain. I only wish it hadn't been such a pubic display.

I am glad that nobody else in that area was hurt...and pray that there weren't any other physical injuries to anyone else...the psychological dilemnas left behind will be hard enough to overcome.

Unfortunately many of them will simply have to endure the pain as well because there are not enough mental health programs that actually help...they just seem to evaulate, medicate, then eradicate and other ideas and move to the next patient.

As for Wilson Creek...it has been slipping worse and worse....the bridge where he died used to be a beautiful place....but now the garbage, broken glass and graffiti have really taken away from it all.I spent many days under that bridge with my kids....now it will be just a sad memory.

The one thing they REALLY need up here is a cel phone tower....I have seen kids hurt and parents panic because they cannot get a signal. The nearest one is almost all the way into collettsville or up on one of the ridges.

A cel tower wouldn't have helped in this situation...but it could sure save a life or two in the future.
I agree this area was making progress towards being a much better place to enjoy but has now started slipping back into the ways of the past. I do think a big factor is the reduced presence of patrol deputies. In the past reserve officers provided good coverage but for some unannounced reason I think the reserve dept consist of two officers instead of the 15 or 20 officers under prior administrations. I am curious what caused the reserve dept to basically disband.

Also, even if officers were present I doubt it would have mattered in this tragic event. The economic crisis is the leading cause locally for such tragedies as was recently explained to me by a very reliable source, also this county basically has one suicide per day, yet most are kept confidential. Something is wrong with the whole system.

With suicides names are almost always withheld. I think it is best that way. The Lenoir paper had a short article on page 3 today....but the article is pretty conflicting from what I saw and heard.
It claimed he was in his truck and it was to the head.
I heard he parked his truck and walked out then sat down...and it was to the chest. Bless you (Bre)and the others who saw it and tried to help out. Also bless any family members who may happen upon this....my thoughts are especially with you.

That is so very sad. I always hate to hear of something like that bc usually there is family left behind and I can't imagine the pain they must feel...
what is equally sad is that it doesn't matter what the subject is or how much human suffering is envolved or not.. there has not been one time I have gotten on here an folks get along.. someone always ends up saying something stupid or hurtful and then the stupid comes out of everyone.. makes me sad for this whole county.. I know you and a lot of other folks probably feel the same.. it's a shame we can't get rid of the trash on this site.. I'm sorry you had to see that.. God Bless you and that mans family. Just had to get that off my chest.

I guess it was you that I stood with in the rain for an hour. Still haven't seen anything online about it. In hindsight I believe he would have taken people with him. That is the only eplanation for the extra full magazine we were lucky.

Hi everyone. Thank you for the kind words and details of the incident. I am the youngest son of the victim and I just happen to stumble across this site as I was trying to find the exact location. I think I found the location but am unsure. If anyone is able to help or answer any other questions about this, please email me at zx10rrida@gmail.com.

Once again very sorry for any pain this has left for you. I know we can all hurt at times.
As for the location....it is where Craig Creek and Wison creek come togeter. There is a large concrete bridge just upstrem of where Craig and wilson meet up.
His truck was parked along the rock wall just across from the parking area. He parked it and walked to about the center of the bridge. There was still a bit of police tape along one of the guardrails....I believe it is still there today.Take care and my thoughts are with you. If you ever need better details on where it was email me and I can try to add anything else I can remember.

And the media or news people are always suppose to report a way out for the ones that hear their story.
Since no one else felt to do so I will.

The number one cause for suicide is untreated depression.

Over 90% of the people who die by suicide have clinical depression or a similar mental illness when they die.
Depression and similar disorders are treatable; thus anyone who believes that they are suffering from depression or something similar needs to receive immediate help.

I assure and stress that suicide is never the answer.
Getting help is the answer.

Suicide.org is online

The national suicide hotline numbers are 1-800-SUICIDE and 1-800-273-TALK. Or you can just call 911.

Anyone who is suicidal can call these number tool free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
