Did you bother to try and grow some veggies this yr? Dont come back with the lame excuse that you have no where to plant them. You can grow them in flower pots, buckets, a sack of dirt. Or did you just depend on good ole uncle sam to support you and your family? The people with the benefits should be looking for jobs and stop using food stamps and welfare as a way of life.

PUT ME IN CHARGE ...

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.."

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov't subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov't welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

FYI, I eat the best food in the world on my food stamps. Good ole cornbread and milk! If we want a snack, we eat canned biscuit donuts. As for voting, who cares! I never voted in my life and don't ever care too. They are all rich scum anyway. I am disabled and 76 years old, so I don't need birth control. I don't live in public housing either. Some people really need this help. Goverment should help people in the United States instead of other counties that United States should keep their nose out of!

I have to agree with the poster YESYES. I am not on food stamps nor have I ever been. We grow a garden each yr and can or freeze veggies and share with the food bank. I was taught this by parents and grand parents who lived through the depression and didnt have any money to spend on food. They also didnt have the government to fall back on to feed their families. They learned to take care of themselves instead of expecting the government to provide for them. Food stamps originally had a limit of what you could buy. For example: You could buy milk, bread, dried beans, rice, veggies cereals, dairy products and such. You COULD NOT buy chips, sodas, premade cakes , 30.00 pks of steaks and such. I really hate standing n line at the grocery and seeing people buying premade HUGE cakes for 50.00+ 30-40.00 pks of steaks and such when I am working and my taxpayers money is giving the right buy this type stuff that I cant afford to buy. Also, I dont like watching them pay for their groceries with food stamps and noticing their nice nails that has recently been done at the salon. Or noticing the vaslaine on their new tat on their shoulder. These type things are not cheap and if they can afford to get their nails done and a tat, why are they not paying for their own food? BECAUSE WE ARE! Our tax money goes to their food stamps which allows them to spend their money on what ever else they decide to do since WE are buying their food. While we are out working all day, alot of them are lying around in the house, watching jerry springer on their plasma tv and eating tons of junk which in turn causes them to have health issues so they go to the ER since they aint about to part with their money to pay for a dr. That money has to go for more tats and such. WE pay their ER bills with our tax money.Welfare was made to provide a HAND UP not a way of life.!There is a woman who works with me is really shouldnt be working due to all her heart problems but since there is so many freeloaders already on the system, she continues to work every day. While able bodied lazy people work the system and do nothing. This system sucks!

It makes me laugh to read on here how many NOSEY people are looking at what other people have in their grocery carts. I have never looked at somebody elses grocerys to see what that get, nor have I looked to see how they pay for them. Why don't you mind your own business.

I have seen people buying those HUGE cakes with their food stamps too. Its hard NOT to notice when the damn cake takes up the freaking bottom of a cart! And It is EVERYONE WHO WORKS business since our taxes are PAYING for their huge cake. And there is no way you havent ever noticed anyones carts unless you are blind, or plain stupid. I am leaning toward the last one.

I'll vote for that and help you enforce those rules. People with kids that no daddy claims from women who probably don't know who the daddy's are anyhow need a job even if it's just cleaning out the toilets or washing windows. No snack foods, no cigs, no sattelite tv or cable and for god's sake no damned cell phone or car. Ride the $3 bus. I agree.

Paying for other people's groceries when they use food stamps is everyone's business, especially those who have to work to pay taxes.

I love how you mentioned a food stamp recipient bought a cake with their benefits. I, too, have bought a cake with mine. A birthday cake for my child. Here's the thing, sweetie, I worked, was married before I was pregnant, responsibly had two children that I could afford. Then, your leader moved the jobs from Caldwell county all the way out of the country. YOU HAVE NEVER PAID A DIME FOR ME TO EAT. Trust me, you can show me that you pay a million dollars in taxes, and I bet you still couldn't prove it. Do you know why? Because your tax dollars are paying for whales to get shots to keep them healthy, illegals cost a fortune, paid out of taxes, to ship out of the country, only to slip back in again, and roads have potholes. Saying you support the poor is a little like saying you work 24 7 with no benefits so my pathetic ass can eat. LOL.If you are working all the time to keep us sorry low lifes up, you have no time for the computer, yet you are on here. Trouble is, my husband is terminally ill, and cannot be left alone. I had a choice; stay home or go to work and allow Medicaid to pay a "sitter", to the tune of $700 a week. I received very little in food stamps, but if you wanna bitch about me buying cake maybe I should rethink the work idea. I can damn sure pay for my cake once a year if you want to foot the weekly expense. We had a nice 3800 square foot brick home, he worked for Bank of America, and I worked for Lowes, until he became sick. So take your shallow self-centered poor me pity party, and shove it politely up your ass. Unless, that is, you want me to bring the cake.

Oh, and the next time I am shopping with your tax money, be sure to walk up to my face, and remind me. That way I can smack the taste of those pork and beans you were eating out of your mouth. I'm sure that's all you can afford if your footing all of our bills. Bless your heart, you are a special kind of stupid!

The cake is not really the issue here you idiot. The SIZE of the cake is! DO you know how much a sheet cake that covers the bottom of the shopping cart costs? And do you know how much the 6 cases of beer cost? She had the cash to pay for the beer and also the 2 cartons of cigs but paid for the huge cake with food stamps. Now, stop and think about that. If she had the money to pay for beer and cigs, why not pay that cash for that damn huge cake !
NOW... YOU yourself can go back to your poor me pity party since all you wanted to take about was YOUR problems.
PS.. LOWES JOBS WERE NOT SHIPPED OVERSEAS.. I KNOW... I WORK THERE! SO try telling the truth once.

I didn't say my job or my husband's went overseas, I said the jobs in Caldwell County did. I had no choice but to leave Lowes because of my husband's illness. I think I said that. Idiot? Graduated with honors with a legal degree- have worked top notch jobs- even handled the deposits of million dollar companies. It is humiliating enough to have to use the card- without real idiots like you working your way around the store like a mystery shopper watching what people buy and how they pay. If you were laid off today, and paid with your unemployment card with all of its "tax" paid extensions, would you want me following you around. NO!!! Furthermore, if she drinks a 12 pack every 6 hours and smokes herself into an early grave, why do you care? Your tax dollars didn't pay for that- EBT doesn't cover them!!! I don't have pity parties- I have great big parties complete with cakes. And we dance around the table singing " I bought this cake with EBT"...I feel sorry for you. You may never have to use food stamps, but your children or grandchildren might. I bet someone related to you right now gets them. You want the truth- here is comes...You aren't worth the argument. I didn't flip out when I read your response, I laughed. Because people like you will eventually get it back. Call it God, or karma, or whatever you want- but the truth here, is that you are so worried about a cake in someone's buggy that you can't finish your shopping in YOUR OWN BUSINESS. That my friend, isn't idiotic, it's downright pathetic.

Oh, and one more thing, pathetic- notice I haven't been on here complaining, screaming about my EBT not being there, or how I worked for years paying for other people to get them- I did what a real woman does with her time- I defend the ones who are guilty of nothing- but are bashed. You might like me if you met me- I'm the same one who keeps children and the elderly from being abused, the same one who would stop and offer a ride to someone if it is hot or cold, the same one who took her Thanksgiving meal to someone who didn't have one. Do you know why? Not because I had it to give, but because I know exactly what it feels like to have nothing. As long as God gives me a breath, I'm in debt to someone. Tonight, its to the people who have to deal with pathetic, cruel, mean people like you.

Patting yourself on the back is not very becoming.. Get over yourself. You are NOT the only person in the world who has helped the needy. SHEESH! I believe the bible says to do things to help others and not BRAG or pat yourself on the back about it.This is what I will CONTINUE to do without bragging about it.
Bet your shoulder hurts from patting yourself on the back so much.

Matthew 6:1-4 ESV

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
