Are there any other citizens as dissapointed with the half-axxed services of the Dept. besides me? I'm tired of little speed traps and seat belt violations all over the city and no attention given to crimes that affect citizens lives. Seems to me the Dept. needs a complete overhaul, starting at the top.
At a cost of over 4 million dollars per year you would think we could hire better officers . Fancy cars do not a police force make. They spend more of our tax payer dollar stopping minor traffic violations than they do investigating crime. Most seem to be over everything. OVER-WEIGHT, OVER-PAID. Seems a shame that we have to hire boys to the polise force and train them to find their way around town so they can apply for a job with Yellow Cab The cars i've seen around town all have a big Crime-Stoppers decal on the rear fender. What a joke They couldn't solve a crime if they caught someone in the act much less stop one. I PAY TAX LIKE EVERY GOOD CITIZEN IN lENOIR AND NEVER HAVE THE PLEASURE OF SEEING THEM PATROL MY STREET. What a massive waste of taxpayer dollars.
.If anyone else feels this way please lets have a voice for change. Thank you.

Sometimes Smokey is the Bandit! Think long and hard why they don't want to solve the crimes. Maybe they make more money not solving them. LOL

They seem to be more concerned with things like seat-belt violations, tag covers, illegal parking and speeding thru town at a whopping 25 mph than they are with drugs. theft and larceny. THERE IS SOMETHING BAD WRONG WITH OUR SYSTEM AND IT NEEDS FIXED , N O W ! We should be looking at a city wide tax cut . The police dept writes enough tickets to be self supportive, our hard earned money shouldn't have to pay tickets and their salaries. Maybe a petition to ask for Chief Browns resignation would be in order.

And as far as Officer John is concerned yes i have gotten and paid usless tickets but my main concern is that i have lived at the same address in Lenoir since 1992 and i can count on my fingers the police cars that have been on my street during that time.
we have the same needs here as do Tobacco To Go and Krispy Kreeme. If they r going to do their job, let's see that they do all of it not just a small portion that actually amounts to nothing.

the more tickets they write, the more grant money they can receive from the state and federal government. Now I am totally ok with writing tickets when laws are being broken, but I am not ok with certain officers using entrapment to write tickets.

I'm talking to you Officer Lee!

I'm confused. If the patrol cops (who's job is not to investigate crimes, by the way) were not writing tickets for speeding and not wearing seatbelts, everyone would speed and no one would wear seatbelts. And as soon as another terrible accident happens due to speed, everyone will be complaining about how the police let everyone drive around like madmen and should've prevented that accident by enforcing the speed limit.

If you'd bother to put on your seatbelt and not speed, they wouldn't have any tickets to write....

There used to be a time when police officers were viewed by the public in the same manner that firefighters are viewed. This was back when we referred to them as peace officers.
Nowadays most people instinctively cringe when they see a cop. So what's changed?
When firefighters come to your neighborhood, you're glad to see them because they're protecting you from harm. Back when cops were peace officers you were glad to see them in your neighborhood because they were also there to protect you from harm.
These days, 90% of the time when you deal with a cop, he's fleecing you out of your hard-earned money with chickensh*t seat belt, inspection, and speeding tickets. Cops have went from being viewed by the public as peace officers to being viewed as revenue gatherers for the state. A thorn in the side of the average citizen.
I realized this not long ago while I was in a store. A little boy was with his mother and he saw a fireman in uniform. The boy said "Look mama, a policeman". The fireman responded "No son, I'm a good guy. I'm a firefighter."
Sad but true.
But don't worry, there's change on the horizon! As the racial demographics of America continue to resemble the demographics of Central America, cops will most likely be too busy dealing with MS-13 and Mexican gangs to be out writing chickensh*t tickets. Maybe they'll become peace officers once again.

I'd posit that "back when cops were peace officers", there was a greater respect for laws as well. These days people think they can simply ignore whatever rules they don't feel like following, then blame someone else when they get caught.

We no longer have police forces or sheriff depts. They are all NAZI' and treat you with the same GESTAPPO tactics that were impleminted back in WORLD WAR II agianst the JEWS. YOU are GUILTY until proven innocent. PROTECT AND SERVE ( means protect themselves behind their badges and serve you up on a platter.) The next time you enter a courtroom look around and see the CATTLEPEN that you are standing in, look at their ARMED guards, the rep or DA for the state who doesn't even look you in the eye when he or she reads the "charges" brought by the state or "KING' agianst you. You would probably be better offf to kneel before the judge and kiss his ring, then BEG for FORGIVENESS!

]Are you completely insane or just fully retarded. Nazi's? Really? I wish you could go back in time and be a Jew in Germany for a day then come back here talking that shit. Yeah I think the cops today are completely misguided and the justice system is screwed but if they were Nazi's or the Gestapo then you would be getting your door kicked in about now and a free trip to a death camp. The Gestapo didn't ask questions or give you a ticket, there were no courts. You got shot in the face on the side of the road and your family sent to a death camp to slave until they couldn't anymore then they were gassed. The SS loved people that had nice Tattoos, they often skinned them and used their skin for leather couches. They used their skulls for ash trays. So you think the local annoying dumb ass cop is a Nazi huh? Try again. You must be a Liberal that has no clue about what real fear and death is.

This is no where close to the AMERICA that I grew up in , and DEFENDER with my life as a RECON MARINE. So you need to open your eyes and see the changes , or set there changes!

LOL really? I dont know what a simple phrase like "Attention Jews", why would I used it then sunshine? Being half German I think I know a little bit about the Nazi's and what it meant to be a German soldier and what it meant to be a Jew in Nazi Germany. I can assure you, you are a long way from the horrors of that life. Can it happen? Yes absolutely as Germany was a very free liberal place before the collapse of the German economy following WWI and the rise of Nazi paranoia. We are in fact in parallel with many things to that lead to the rise of the NSDAP. However your completely insane accusation that we are currently living in the same hell as Nazi Germany is well.... just insane and stupid.
First off let me tell you, I would suggest taking some civics classes because you are way off base about your claims that the Police can stop, detain, enter and remove you from your home without PC. Only in exigent circumstances can these things take place and any lawyer worth his salt can still eat a Police Department alive when taken to task on the matter. Sure some ignorant cop may very well do so but he will pay and his department will pay dearly later on in court.
I dont really feel like going into your insistence of name dropping units like MSOCS but suffice it say I have worked with many along the way and the last thing they do is name drop, POG's maybe. They typically are not only highly motivated but intelligent individuals with a higher command of the written word. Just saying.

I know the stories my grandfather told me and i do agree that it is not as bad as being strapped into a chair and watching a nazi doctor/scientist injecting a different color into the iris of your older brothers' eyes. So they can try to change green eyes to blue. when the next time you see your mother she has been scalpted of all her auburn hair and someonelse scalp and blonde hair have been somewhat grafted to her head, and you could smell the infection ( this is as my grandfather told it ) and the rotting of the untreated flesh. The next time you get to lay eyes on your father, you are putting him in the ground as a corpse. I am just saying i feel like they have set fire to the constitution, and destroyed the bill of rights.

Ive read all this with humor in mind, as I do most things in life. My pet peeve is fairness. IMO, it IS a very big deal. cause and effect.

With that said, I have received my fair share of speeding tickets and paid the damn things quietly, well, because I agree that when you are wrong, you are wrong.
I have also paid tickets where I wasnt wrong because it apperas that even when the officer proclaims to you that, "I thought about what you said so I wrote you up for this instead", and you have a witness in the car; you are still wrong. money racket? At that point, Id say so.

But what really baffles me is when I am made out to be a trouble maker by the police I called to retrieve my car key from someone who had borrowed my car 3 weeks prior and refused to meet me for the trade off. Id known the person 18 yrs. Idk why he kept my car key or what he planned? I just wanted it back and I still dont have it because the police sent me away. odd. But that was 4 yrs ago!

I am a quiet citizen, for the most part! I dont get in trouble, even with traffic infractions, very much at all. So, when I am treated so poorly and unfairly it makes me cringe, as well, when I see policeman....what are they up to now? What can be my fault today? lol

Its frustrating to say the least. I feel too that it is detrimental to our community when officers do not serve and protect and do the right thing. It makes this a much scarier place to live. It is a very sad situation. But when you dont feel comfortable or safe around the ppl who are under oath to make it the best it can be.....even the ones who do respect the laws begin to hide....but arent those the ppl you want drawn out to enjoy and help prosper the community? Seems like a catch 22....

Don't forget. Traffic citations are a great source of revenue for the city and state. As the tax dollars tighten many cities and states began stricter enforcement of traffic laws as a method of increasing funding. A ticket is one bill people generally manage to find a way to pay to avoid further fines. Just look how much is added to a ticket for court cost. It's crazy. NC according to a news article last year, used increased traffic citations more than any other state basically as a revenue source, up over 9% compared to good economic times, that's a lot of extra tickets
bad situation

Also dont forget that many cities like Lenoir get grants from the Governors Highway Traffic Safety Fund which basically funds a large portion of their Patrol Division. The problem is that if they dont see some results as in tickets, they yank the funding so it essentially boils down to either go out and hunt your citizens down for citations or be forced to cut back on Patrol activities which in turn results in further unchecked criminal activity. Its a double edged sword, ticket your citizens to death or raise taxes unless you de-fund Patrol.

The brass at LPD will show no mercy on their Patrol Officers when questioned about their daily activities. When reports on their stops are pulled and they are asked, why didn't you issue a citation for this and this violation?, they had better have a good reason why. All Officers have to radio or enter in their computer either at the start or end of the stop why they pulled the vehicle over and what action they took so its not something they can hide very easily.
