management of these resources needs to be carefully reviewed. Any exploitation along the banks will have long lasting effects,,, usually bad. Along the Watauga river stop any further building or pollution from the existing manufacturing. Carter county has some of the prettiest river banks without a comprehensive greenbelt plan! The area from the Hunter bridge to hwy 19 is a well known historical site of indian villages dating back centuries. Right now there is construction in a known burial grounds and village area on hwy 91 and artifacts have been pulled from those sites to verify these facts. Not a single state or local official has raised a flag to this because it's progress I'm sure. Any waterway that exists today was a main thoroughfare for previous cultures and we all know that! Stop giving away the heritage of this area for progress!!!

I know this is from last year but I agree that it is sometimes other people's business to step in. A person has the right to do with what he wants to the land he owns. Unfortunately, this means changing the water-flow and clear-cut of forests.
