UndertheSun wrote: <quoted text> When I was real young, my mom worked with mentally handicapped children. I remember her bringing a couple of them home to have dinner with us. As a kid all I understood about these children was that they were special. After my mom left my father, we lived in a house located right behind a home for mentally handicap people (maybe the one she worked at, I don't know). There was a fence so we couldn't see them and they couldn't see us but, I would go outside and sing to them. It was weird, I was a very shy kid and you'd never catch me singing where people could actually hear me. I'll never understand why I thought to sing to them. I guess I was hoping to make their day a little brighter. I've used the word retarded but I don't use it very often. Only because other people are sensitive about it. My way of thinking about it is this, the mentally handicap are not retarded - stupid people with very capable minds that do stupid things fit that description better. To me the mentally handicap are special "earth angels". Excellent post Sun! You really understand and get it.I do volunteer work with the Special Olympics and a program called SACC,as far as Iam concerned they are all special and they have a reason for being here, even if it is just to teach people to have compassion. There is nothing like a smile or a hug from these special earth angels to brighten your day.I hope you dont mind that I borrowed that,I love it.

Goodmorning to you China...

Our birthdays were 2 days apart and I loved to tease her about being older than me. Talk about partners in crime! Over the years and over the miles. We might go for months without talking, but then it would be like we'd never been apart. Ah. To friends! Kathy, didn't mean to be so short last night. I really had to get off. I have a girlfriend like that. We start hanging around 42 years ago. She was twelve and I was thirteen. We are exactly 7 months apart to the day. I'm March 15th. She's Oct 15th. I always bragged about being the oldest until oldest wasn't cool. We do that, don't speak for months, then pick up where we left off. I think she's mad at me now. I called her on her birthday and sang Happy Birthday to her on her answering machine. She hasn't returned my call. I fussed at her the last time I talked to her cause' she doesn't return calls, but everytime she needs me she calls, and I go running like a dork. She got mad because I didn't come to her stepfather's funeral (long story), but h/e/l/l, I waited all day at the hospital for her one day after my mom had her stroke and she's yet to show up to see my mother (it's been six yrs. this month). So she need not be poking her bottom lip out on me. I DO love her though. My husband doesn't like her, and she doesn't like him. She WAS my partner in crime to though, and we've been through a lot together. Her own mother was mad at me for taking up for her (she said I love her and don't see her faults). I was afraid to go to her stepfather's funeral. Mommy Dearest isn't so forgiving. LOL! We all have our faults, so wth? I know I'm never gonna be perfect, so I don't expect perfection.

Come to find how she was. I couldn't believe my mother could have known that. She said if she hasn't written me, she's dead. She said she had never missed writing her at certain times of the year or whenever, so she knew she was dead. They also say kicking the cigarette habit is like kicking heroin. I've never used heroin, but I know kicking cigarettes is HARD! I wish anybody luck who can. I did, but I really had to if I want to stay around to be with my husband, be with my kids or ever hope to see a grandchild. Thanks for telling me..........

Not to BEAT A DEAD HORSE but: This is the second time you said you did not like me. I think that was when you claimed not to be an "inbred hillbilly", YOUR words, not mine. I just tried to raise a standard for language that is acceptable by decent people here. Montana Momma posted she was offended by Paddy's posts and apparently Topix agrees because Paddy's "MF" posts are gone. You also said you thought I did not "have a pot to PISS in", I didn't reply then because I know better. But as long as you want to do battle: MY 5 bedroom home was paid in full in 2002.(Don't neeed the pot you use) Last year I paid CASH for my new vehicle. I am retiring next year and paying CASH for my retirement home. You are wrong again. I will most certainly scroll past your posts. You have a good day!

My girlfriend's birthday was March 10, and mine is the 12th! When my youngest granddaughter was born, she was due around the 15th, and my girlfriend and I both wanted her to be born on our birthday! She's a good little granddaughter--birthday is the 22. A combo for the 2 of us. My GF always claimed my grandchildren as hers--as I do her grandkids. she wanted to be here for Babydoll's birth, but her doctor told her she was too sick to make the trip. He gave her just a short time to live. Boy was she upset! She couldn't believe how "crass" her doctor had been. Oh, she was a fighter to the end. Never gave up, never bemoaned her fate, just stayed her cheerful little red-headed self to the last week when she slipped into a coma. Thanks for sharing.

Yay! I'm so glad for you. You must have been smart and paid for inspection. I did with my first house, no problems. I didn't with this second (newer) house, problems up the ying yang! Live and learn we do. I'm going have to have the drain field done soon. I hope it'll last for more years, can't do it until then. Meanwhile, I hope getting septic tank pumped out will work until then.

Sergi wrote: <quoted text> Not too close as I am sick already and don't care to get sicker(swine flu or the flu)..its huge and When I lived in Lauderdale I use to go to John Lloyd Park and beach our boat and you had to pass Port Everglades and the ships are humongous and this one is the largest in the world so I can just imagine it up close.. I'd be too scared to board that ship. I think I'd get dizzy just standing next to it, lol. That is just one phobia (scared of heights) about cruise ships... I could not imagine the nightmare of being stuck out in the middle of the ocean with 100+ sick people all puking and lookin' green - there's no escape! Oh, and of course the fear of sinking, like the Titanic - "The Largest Ship in the World" label didn't pan out all that great for that ship.
