I LOVE this article! It is about time people who park illegally get what is coming to them.
People LOVE 2 complain, when his/her car is towed for parking illegally, BUT people fail 2 see - if it was his/her business and/or property, then he/she would WANT the same response.
KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB!
While some may LOVE my comment, there WILL BE others who have 2 put his/her 2 cents worth in and complain, BUT...
STOP and think about it, IF the situations were reversed - wouldn't U want PROMT removal of an illegally parked vehicle?
THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE BEFORE YA'LL START COMPLAING AGAIN!

I can't claim personal experience with this company, but it does seem odd that he would have such legal problems and so many complaints. In the instance where he detained a man, if that's true, he was definitely guilty of false imprisonment. Not the kind of guy I'd want to be at the mercy of.

solution...... dont go downtown or anywhere where parking is charged by a meter.

Although I live downtown and welcome the towtruck drivers to remove violators, these people are very confrontational. Perhaps it is due to their type of work. Regardless they seem to act like thugs and do cross the line. They need a critical eye on them, and I appreciate the city of orlando focusing on them.

There are plenty of streets without meters East (Thorton Park), North (Eola Heights) or South (Cherokee) of downtown. All are nice, pleasant 5-15 minute walks from your spot to the downtown area too! We walk those areas often. Enjoy.

Throughout the country, not just here in Orlando or Orange County or Florida even, tow truck operators and their employers were given far too much authority and autonomy to basically snatch cars up, play policeman, play judge, play jury. Many are low life scum who have turned a necessary service into an extortion racket putting numerous lower income people into financial harm who may have parked in places they thought were perfectly legal to park in. I've even witnessed cases where upset car owners "dared" to object and had their fee to release the car upped on the spot by a little tyrant driving the tow truck playing God with the driver of the car. This is patently wrong. I contend on the street, the only way a car should be able to be towed is by the direct order of the police and the police should be on hand when the truck arrives. On private property, the owner or his representative should have to be the one authorizing the tow and he or she has to be present when the truck arrives. Allowing the trucks to circle about and just snatch up cars or boot cars at will is dangerous and should be illegal.

Tow truck drivers are a mini-police force that, as this article indicates, refuse to even obey the REAL police.
They are typically low-life scumbags who work in filthy areas and are basically dirtbag human beings, no better than repo men.
I think it's amazing that our cities would so happily turn over police powers to these scum, all in the name of "property rights."
You know what? Sometimes the right to live in a decent, civilized, just society outweighs your precious property rights. Get over it. If you agree with the tow-truck drivers, odds are you're nearly as greedy sort of scum as they are. It's the Republican way, right?

Let alone that they take the cars, they take anything that is in them. Cameras, binocluars, MP3's, change out of the ash trays. They go through each vehicle and confiscate the belongings. But no one can prove what was in their car, so they get away with it.
Some one should check on the other business these jerks are in.

I'm all for the removal of illegal parked cars, read a damn sign and figure out where you can and can't park.
However, This owner is a total scumbag.
He crosses the line when him and his staff disobey LEO's (law enforcement officers). It's too bad the guy w/ the Jag didn't cooperate on the false imprisonment charge.
"I'm very passionate about anything I do," Gren said of his legal troubles. "I'm not one of those people that will back off at the suggestion that,'If you don't do this, we're going to arrest you.' If I feel I'm on solid ground ... the possibility of an arrest is generally not a deterrent for me."
What a gem. Let's give him the key to the city. He a HERO!.

I guess whatever you own is fair game for others. Right? Do you actually own anything? Are you over 18? If so, had personal experience w/ the Repo Man? The police to not have time to ticket/tow or boot for private lot owners: thus this company is hired by private lots. Living in a "decent civilized society" demands that property owners have rights, the right to hire this man, no matter if he is a jerk. Seems like you and he have a lot in common. To Susi Ishikawa and Dave, you both have a couple of valid points but you lose that credibility when you become and A-hole. What does being Republican have to do with anything here. And Susi, have you seen how these guys work? It is not what they do that is dispicable, it is just how they do it. Spotters, aggressiveness, etc. are not necessary. If you are truly out of SC, thx for reading our paper but you have no say here.

He'd be OK, then, if he ran his business inefficiently and was a kindly push over? He is in it to make as much money as he can. What kind of dream world do you people live in where you think tow truck owners/operators in a business like this are gonna be sweet and altruistic? The fact remains, he is hired by private lot owners. They only want legal parkers in their lots. If you have a beef, it is with the private lot owners who keep him on the payroll and think he does a good job for them.
