I wouldn't hold the hospital responsible, it wasn't their fault. I hold the hospital and DR responsible if they do not contact me. Which has happened. I have a right to know. The company involved would be held responsible. I had to research my own tissue, I found that it came from RTI one of the ones involved. My surgery was June 2004. The FDA said that was the time frame and contact the Hospital where the surgery was done. I did. They asked what my concerns were and I told them. They told me to contact my family DR and have tests done. If I had never researched it I would never had known.

You need to hold the hospital responsible, they have a duty to monitor the quality of implanted tissue. Highly recommend you contact an attorney specializing in medical malpractice. They will insure you recieve the testing and continued monitoring by specialists. This will be very expensive and, the cost should be burden of the hospital.

Yes, I think the hospitals should be held responsible because they should all have a system to monitor all tissue that they will use at their facility, even though they say that along the way someone else did that testing. They need to stop passing the buck and take responsibility for their own facility.

I personaly think that everyone that had anything to do with the tissue should be held responsable! I had a fusion in April 2004, and was notified with a letter saying about a recall of the bone that was used in the operation. A RECALL, come on, we sound like an automobile or something. They say not to worry, chances of them being bad are very slim, they're not the one's with this in their body. It's sickening and there is no exscuce for something like this to happen,it is scary and and hard to live with hey,the bone bank is "perfectly safe" they said, yeah O.K. Everyplace that the tissue goes threw should have to to the testing and steralization processes, it is a human being there working on not a vehicle. How can I figure out where my bone came from? anyone know?

I need some advice please. In May, 2008 I was implanted with cadaverous tissue during nasal reconstruction. This was done after the surgeon assured me that in my case only my own tissue should be used. It was only as a result of complications Post Op that I found out through various interns that cadaver tissue had been used,(Alloderm). When I requested a copy of my operative reports I found out that not only Alloderm but also an ear cartilage graft(not mine) had been implanted. Can anyone advise me on how to proceed with this. I was not aware that this would be done and I never signed a medical form giving my permission for this to be done. Could someone advise me how to proceed. This Doctor needs to be held responsible but how do you fight the legal system?. Thanks.
