Lindsay,
As you can see, people have read the words you write. I cried as I told my children of the severe beating and still get tears in my eyes thinking of the injustice of what happened.
You're damned right those boys deserve prison! Better yet, they deserve what God thinks is adequate. I know it's hard to believe, but forgiving them IS putting it in Gods hands. There is nothing in human society (at least in the US) that could make it equal in pain for what they did. The best you can do is to pray to forgive them, and let God.
I hate the fact that if the circumstances were different, the media would have been ALL over it. Say, three white guys beat a black boy to death. Do you think the national news would have covered this as a hate crime instead of the low coverage that it was given? I absolutely believe this was a hate crime, and it had alot to do with race. People in Bangor are not from Chicago or Milwaukee where this type of crime goes on every week. This was not because these three boys thought your brother, whom just got off of work at the local grocery store as a bag-boy, had a wad of cash or any drugs to steal. This was pure hate that instigated the crime.
