I'll leave you with one more. Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome (Dr. Joy DeGruy) This is a must read for every US Citizen! This book really gives you insight into how slavery still affects even the most succesful African American on an emotional and mental level without them ever realizing it. Some of the things are so subtle and every day, it's scary. This is the book that made me realize what the most basic things are that black people want from white people in this country. And it is not handouts, reparations, or unfair advantages. We are just trying to cope with the insecurities and fears that come from a bondage that horrible. What the book makes you realize is that the fears, insecurities, inner stress, and survival instincts all got passed down. The overall emotional and mental trauma got passed and keeps getting passed because we don't even realize when we do it. That's how deeply imbedded it is.
Jay, If a person doesn't see the mentality as wrong, but that it is to their entitlement to have, then why would they realize, They do not see what they are doing is WRONG OR IMPROPER.

Study entitlement class and race and you will see.

<quoted text>That was well said, but just remember the one twist. It is a lot easier for a member of the oppresor (and that does not mean all white people are oppresors, just enough of the ones with power to matter) than a member of the oppressed to not see or not look at things from a racial perspective.
Certainly....I can't argue that point. I just think it's unhealthy to dwell on it....all of us need to persevere against any challenges we face in life, or it will hold you down. We (almost) all had something in life where we've been discriminated against. Maybe you've got a birthmark on your forehead, maybe you're overweight, maybe you look like a 'geek'...whatever it is; we all have faced some form of's how you deal with it that will make all the difference in life. Ask Barrack Obama. I'm sure he's seen racism...but he didn't let it get him down or use it as an excuse for failure. He's a great role model for overcoming adversity. Keep your head high, and if something holds you've got to shrug ti off and keep moving forward! To that, I think we can both agree.

<quoted text>You always gotta move forward dude. An obstacle is just another way to make you more powerful. I just point out the hypocracy and discrimination and ask that there be a little more understanding. Everybody is not as strong willed as I am. Everybody will not be able to channel their anger as I have. And then when they can not the anger turns to desparation and insecurity. And I just wish people would understand and try placing themselves in others shoes before being so judgemental.
Wow. We both agree Jay. How about that!??!

I'd just like to add...No matter what the job is...I don't care if you're black, white, asian, hispanic, middleastern, indian......I just want to know you're the best person for the job. As an example, If I'm in need of brain surgery...I don't care what your nationality is. I just want the most qualified surgeon. Same goes for my plummer, auto mechanic, or the gardener, for that matter.
