I was wondering why Bloomfield patrons don't support the school system. Bloomfield is a wonderful place to grow up and it is pitiful that these kids have to go to school in building with leaky roofs. Not to mention the mold that is for sure growing in the ceilings and walls. I know that the school maintenance people work their behinds off to keep the schools up as much as possible and can only work with what they have. I just wish the residents of Bloomfield would acutally pass a bill to support the schools! We have wanted to move in the country in Bloomfield, but have reservations due to the lack of support of the school system.

Well if you lived in the town and had kids in the school sytem, you would know why. Nobody wants to pass that tax, until we have some fiscal responsibility at that school. They want that tax passed, not just to fix the roof, but they probably have some other ideas up their sleeves.

yeah. about 12 years ago the got a grant and other allocated funds to remodel the elementry building. they put an old flat tar roof on the thing all the while there was much better options available. now they are crying because it leaks. holy crap, who would have guessed that a flat roof would leak in 10 years. DUH! i voted no and will do the same again! i know its hard to get money for schools and teachers are under paid and under appreciated. but a little better planning. and a little more money back then would have solved this problem

That's what my point is. Don't these kids deserve taxpayers money? If these "people" that have the fiscal responsibility can sleep at night knowing that they are cheating the kids then so be them. It's just a shame.

Bloomfield is a good school, but with the buildings getting in poor condition, the school is losing good staff to work at better condition school districts, where the community supports the school. It is not a good sign when there is a large turnover in a district. If the community supported the school a little better, more teachers would stay.

I just graduated from there, and I am not sure why we cannot support the school. The school needs a lot of repairs and updates. I dont object to an increase on the taxes, but I think that the increase would need to be spent wisely. I know we have had some people just blow money that we really dont have. It isnt safe.

Everyone keeps whining about what happened in the past - we have a new sup. and starting to weed out the school board, what else do you need? Can't we just get past what happened back then, that was then, this is now - and we need a new roof now!

No, Bloomfield is not the worst school in the bootheel. Bloomfield has great teachers, staff and kids. They provide a safe learning environment while following the guidelines of dese. Now, many people think there was mismangement in the past, let the past go. We now have a clean slate with the new sup. and lets support him. Think about the job he has to do. So many people are bad mouthing the school and that makes our kids do the same. Lets set good examples and stop talking down about the school. Our kids deserve better than this.
