Looks like parents are voting with their feet. Finally, they realized that the test scores, Mr. Tso is so proud of, are meaningless and have nothing to do with good education. Any parent who has that option should take their kids out of central before they get scarred for life and bored to death in the endless testing mode.

You are right on about Central. Levinski says they are "stealing" students. Interesting choice of words as though the kids are property owned by the district and parents are clueless about what is best for their own children. Most districts would be examining why they are losing students to another district, and then try to address that deficiency. Speaks volumes about the backward attitude of CCSD.

I find CCSD's superintendent comments of indignation in the article amusing. This coming from someone who has challenges with ethics and integrity.

Here, here! He seems more concerned about himself and his administration than what's best for the kids. Kudos to Larry Behrens from the PED who said that whatever action they take (or don't take) will be based on what is deemed to be best for students. If Levinski and Tso want a fiefdom, I wish they would pick on someone other than students and their parents. BTW, I didn't like it any better when the Mannings were in control since they tended to think of the district as a fiefdom as well.

Sounds like some disgruntled NEA burnouts and ex-employees here. Inside word at PED is Skandera is going to stop Gallup and side with CCSD.. CCSD's test scores are up and its pretty clear that make you guys upset and have nothing else better to do or complain about.

Gallup is literally run by the AFT, which is far worse than the NEA in CCSD and Aztec. That teachers union is the big reason why that school district is in the toilet. CCSD needs to decertify the NEA..... all they do is protect bad teachers who hurt children.

Actually the test scores are not significantly up. It is just a manipulation of the new grading system that improved grades of few schools in the district. The claims of "explosive growth" by Mr. Tso are just a joke. Although, I have never seen so much teaching to the test before. But I am not going to blame teachers for that. It is a logical outcome of the current pressures and obsession with test scores. As a parent, who educated himself on some education issues, I know that the test scores have nothing to do with how much my kids learned and how they feel about their schools. Mr. Levinski's indignation about someone "stealing" his students exposes him as an egomaniac that he is. They are not HIS PROPERTY. These are my children and I will take them out of CCSD if I feel they are being harmed.

Thanks for bringing so much intelligent discussion to the forum. I see that you think you know the motivations of others who post their opinions here. Nice to be so omniscient. Keep up the good work.

I concur with your view regarding CCSD's propaganda about scores going up. I doubt the veracity of their statistical methodology. If one compares the test scores for 2012 versus 2013 for the category of proficient and above, scores went up 1.6 points in math and 1.0 point in English. Bottom line 57% of CCSD's students cannot comprehend what they read and are unable to write and 65%are unable to do math. Employers are not going to be much impressed with this data.

You would probably have to take up your problem of the statistical methodology with the state PED since it is their system, and numbers they generated. CCSD is just enthusiastically reporting the results and how they compare with others in the area.

You are right employers are not going to be impressed with any New Mexico school at this point.

Your figures on the proficcency of CCSD students is interesting. If it is true who is to blame? I think it is Parents, Poverty, Mannings, and NEA, in that order. At least grade 3 to 12 belong to Randy Manning and his hairdresser Ideas of educational excellence. but then again he had the great solution to segregate the districts, to fix that problem.

Subutai, the numbers were obtained by comparing 2012 SBA result with 2013 SBA results. This was just simple mathematical comparison. The numbers were all supplied by the PED.

I would offer that CCSD is claiming great growth under the "nearing proficiency" category. What does nearing proficiency mean? A higher F versus a lower F?

Do you want "nearing proficiency" to fix your cars, count your change out, manage your bank account?

Who you are, you must be less than "minimally qualified" to even interpret mere data and statistics. Do you even know how to use Excel? The data sets are publicly available on NMPEDs website. Sounds like the improvements are so hard to believe because people like you, the Mannings, and NEA burnouts like Ewa Krackpot are too busy blaming kids for the failure of teachers. You guys are pretty sick. At least Farmington, Aztec, Bloomfield, and Gallup are picking up the NEA burnouts and rejects in CCSD. Lets see how this next year turns out.

Whoa! You have such a way of reducing a civil discussion into name calling soaked in vitriol. I am guessing you must be one of Mr. Levinski's cronies lashing out at the people trying to keep him honest and in check. Fortunately, my kids are no longer with CCSD, so I no longer care about his dirty politics. But if this wasn't the case, I would wholeheartedly support these NEA idiot burnouts, you are so obsessed with, because your hatred indicates they must be doing something right.

You must of listened to the doom and gloom that Randy and Byron, and Mark Duncan were selling to Kirtland, of test scores going down after all the smart kids, of those smart parents went to Farmington schools. And property values going down. It was really just racist garbage they were spouting, thinly disguised, for the simple minded.

The fact remains that CCSD in two years, without the Mannings in charge have improved to the level that they have the best grades in the area according to the PED. It is a apples to apples comparison. Considering the student population that is quite an accomplishment.

But yes you are right it is like saying you are the best college football team in New Mexico. Such is the state of education in New Mexico.

Loathe though I am to correct anyone's spelling or grammar, for you, Subutai, I will make an exception.

"You must of listened to the doom and gloom..."

So here's a homophone lesson: "must of" sounds like "must have" when speaking, but "of" is a preposition and "have" is the being verb you want in this case.

Comparisons made easy. All are invited to check out www.schooldigger.com here they have everything laid out. Best elementary school in San Juan county: Country Club (Farmington), best middle school: Mesa View (Farmington), best high school: Piedra Vista (Farmington) best overall district: Farmington. Improved test schools only mean you got better.

Heights is not on top? Parents lie, cheat, and become great examples of deception, just to take their children there. What's up with that?

Thanks, composing something on an iPhone sometimes makes it hard to proofread well. I'm glad I could leave you something so you could show your perceived intellectual superiority.

Sometimes when one is fluent in multiple languages some of the grammar rules get mixed up.

Why don't you get on the daily times article about this and read the letters written by both superintendents, then give us a grammar and composition critique.

The Gallup superintendents letter to the PED is awful. Then again his name does sound like his last name is Chia Pet.
