I just got this message in my school email. I don't even know what our NEA leaders are doing anymore.

The leadership of the Central Consolidated Educators Association turned down 3 percent raises for maintenance workers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, and other hourly employees; as well as rejecting raises averaging 4.4 percent for teachers during mediation with the Central Consolidated School District.

This was more money than the state gave the District for salary increases, and higher than the union’s original proposal. The union’s failure to accept this offer by noon, Friday, July 18, 2014, forces the District to revert to an earlier offer in order to meet payroll deadlines mandated by the state of New Mexico.

CCSD teachers are getting the 3.4 percent raise rather than the 4.4 percent raise. Non-union hourly employees will receive a 3 percent raise. Most union hourly employees will not receive a raise due to the union rejecting CCSD’s offer. This is less than the District intended.

CCSD teachers and hourly employees are still paid more, at every step, than in Farmington and other surrounding school districts in San Juan County.

Don't believe the district propaganda. LOL to their "story" as included in the DT article. District and bargaining team are in mediation despite that the district refuses to work that process. Their goal is to bust the union because then they can continue to treat employees however they want without having to defend their actions.
Look forward to replacing a few board members who will direct the superintendent to follow process, board policy, and the law. Right now he and his minions make up their own rules and the PED is looking the other way in exchange for unconditional support to Skandera.
CCSD administration continues to think they are above the law, and they have no problem behaving unethically. If you live in the community, get the facts and work to elect board members who will challenge the current bad administration.

Public employees should never be allowed to be unionized, simple enough.

Sounds like the union has a real ax to grind with a new administration that is working in the best interest of students. The union seems to be all about supporting lazy teachers who give children a bad education. Nancy Sheehan definitely did a much better job of working with the current administration than the bull dyke Ewa Krackpot and Mel Sharp. Shame on them for screwing over CCSD employees. Why would a pro NEA school board want to bust up the union? Makes no sense. At least all of CCSDs reject/trash teachers are leaving for Farmington, Aztec, and Bloomfield and bring down their test scores.

Word from many CCSD employees are that they are sick of the current bunch of crazy NEA "leaders" like Ewa Krackpot who are only looking out for themselves and no one else.

Why is it that some of the worst performing teachers ( Mel Sharp, Ewa Krackpotska, Ed Marquez, etc.) are in the union/NEA/CCEA leadership leading negotiations for employees they screwed over? Is it because they want bad teachers who give our children a bad education to make off like bandits/criminals with our childrens money??? While better performing teachers and employees get squat?!

The union leadership seems just as bad and corrupt as the Mannings who freeloaded off the district for such a long time, gave out no-bid contracts to their cronies, and trust our childrens funds into their own personal slush fund.

Mel sharp n Ewa Krackpotska are carpet baggers who dont even live in CCSD and exist to rip off our children.

Lots of misinformation to correct here. 1st, EK is not a teacher. She is NEA/NM's rep to the region of NM that includes CCSD and the other districts in the area. It's her job to assist CCEA leadership in employee matters.
2nd, EdM is not on the employee bargaining team, and is not leading negotiations.
3rd, MS not only is a teacher in the district, but he and his family DO live in the district.

Whatever opinion you have of unions in general and CCEA in particular, your credibility is questionable if you resort to lies and misinformation.

Looks like CCSDs NEA union rejects/trash teachers infected Farmington and Bloomfield schools and really brought their school grades. Wow! 5 F schools??? Heard that Farmington Superintendent Janel Ryan had a heart attack after Farmington schools had massive drops. Looks like Kirtlands Children First students also caused Farmington schools to fail and test scores to drop. It also appears that the NEA also ran Mesa Elementary School (lead by NEA president Mel Sharp) into the ground with a 3rd F grade in a row. The NEA clearly stand for failing teachers and giving children a bad education.

Time to Fire Ewa Krakowska's buddies Janel Ryan and John Rasor.

Why does the NEA hate childen and their own members by refusing to negotiate a salary increase for all workers? Mel Sharp and Paula Magnuson are the ones who are making off like bandits and getting a 10% to 15% raise while the rank and file get nickels and dimes. Looks like By Manning needs to be brought back as a lead negotiator....
