I am a former LDS missionary. I am embarassed at this behavior. This is NOT what the LDS Church stands for and these less than worthy missionaries need to take responsibility for their actions. Shameful.

I agree LDS Member. Young men can do destructive things. Had these been Catholic Altar boys tearing up a Mormon Temple, I'd council the same thing--make them clean up the mess and pay a fine, and make them do a LOT of physical labor for restitution under the watchful eye of a genuine, tough Man.

Mormons have degrated the Catholic Church since their inception. Its not surprising that these young me would vandalize a Church that their founder called "The great and abominable church, the whore of all the earth, whose foundation is the devil." The Catholic Church has had to deal with evil since it was founded by Jesus Christ 200 years ago. It will prevail.

I have heard Catholic priest call the LDS Church much worse. Also you should do some research on just what Joseph Smith taught. In a responce to W.W. Phelps, and early LDS Leader who had ofr a time apostacized from the LDS Church, Joseph listed those who would be in the Celestial kingdom or what you would call heaven. It says alot about what he taught. I will not give the full vision brcause it is 312 lines long. I will however post one paragraph

NOtice the company Joseph put the Pope, Luther and Calvin in? He put hem in with Peter, James, John, Moses, Enoch, Moses, Cephas, Apollos and Jesus. This would show that the interpretation of what you said would be other than what you want it to be to justify your hatred of Mormon. Can you say that any Catholic Clergy has put Joseph Smith iin that same class Joseph put the Pope in?

Larry, this is not the forum to talk about who said what about who's church. Catholics, Mormons or whatever.

These young missionaries made a terrible choice in doing what they did and I am sure they have many regrets right now. Let their church decide what should be done on the church level (although I am not in favor of excommunication), and let the law decide what punishment they will get as far as the law applies.

This is not about Joseph Smith or the Pope or Luther.

I was not trying to make this about Joseph Smith or the Pope. I ws simplyresponding to a comment about Joseph Smith making a statement that is missunderstood and used the Quote from him about the Pope to make my point that We LDS do NOT have the view of Catholics that was claimed. I believe as I have said before that they should be punished and gave a list of possiable actions the LDS CHurch can take. My post was correct to answer the post I responded to as it said Joseph and all LDS would have found this acceptable. I am sorry I did not make that point clear.
