look out for double murder suspect
Lookout for double murder suspect!!! 2011-01-26 / Front Page The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department in Florida issued a lookout late Friday for a suspect in a double murder which took place Wednesday in Cottondale, Fla. The suspect has been identified as Wade Williams, son of the victims. Authorities have information that an individual matching the suspect’s description was picked up hitch hiking near the Alabama-Florida state line on U.S. 231. The individual that picked up the hitch hiker directed law enforcement to a location south of Abbeville, Ala., on U.S. 431 where they dropped off the person. Subsequent tips from citizens led officers to State Highway 10 east of Abbeville to continue the search. Officers believe the individual is traveling east on Highway 10 to a location somewhere in Georgia. He is in possession of a duffle bag and/or a back pack and also could be in possession of a firearm. The public is urged to be on the lookout and warned if they see anyone matching Wade Williams description not to approach him, but contact their local law enforcement. Anyone spotting the suspect or suspicious activity in Early County should call 911. UPDATE: There has been another possible sighting of Williams east of Abbeville near state road ten about nine miles from the Georgia line, near Fort Gaines. Officers believe Williams may continue to travel east into Georgia, and should be considered armed and dangerous
Jackson County, Fla:
The search will continue for a fugitive in last week’s Cottondale double murder, but it will move into a different phase. Wade Andrew Williams went missing last week after his parents were found dead in the home he shared with them. He may have taken his father’s truck, which was found burned the next morning in Holmes County. Later tips placed Williams as far as Alabama and Georgia, where he reportedly has relatives.
Investigators said Tuesday they will focus on the investigation here in Florida, while still going up into Alabama and Georgia to follow certain leads. They said they will primarily depend on Federal help from The US Marshalls Fugitive Units.
The Jackson County Sheriff and Cottondale Police Chief said they are now ready to name Andrew Wade Williams as the primary suspect in last week’s murder of his parents. They said Williams has not contacted anyone in his family, and failed to attend his parents’ funeral. That, along with other evidence, led them to upgrade Williams from a “person of interest.”
“There are a lot of factors that came together,” said Jackson County Sheriff Lou Roberts.
“There are some things we can’t go into detail about that would pinpoint the fact that he has some answers that he needs to provide to law enforcement.”
Cottondale Police Chief William Watford said there’s still no hint at any motive Williams might have had for killing his parents. They are sending a large amount of evidence to a lab in Pensacola for testing, and Roberts said results will not come quickly.
“It’s a lengthy process,” Roberts said.
“There’s a lot of paperwork involved—it doesn’t occur overnight.”
