Yep, listen up, pay attention,“they” gonna do it to you again.

Slip and slide it right past you. Just love to spend (read waste) that (your) money.

While you scrimp for every dime, they spend like a bunch of drunk sailors (no offence to sailors).

What a party, BUT, that’s alright “THEY” say it’s for “the children.

Huh, doesn’t appear that way to me!!

It's damned if you do and damned if you don't. If the tax fails, property taxes go up and if it passes, property taxes remain close to the same. 6 of one an half dozen of the other. Only possible winners are those that rent and that is assuming it fails

Wrong about damned. Make the leader raise taxes. Splost is a way for political leaders to pass the buck (millions of them)and then claim they held the line on taxes.Raising taxes is very very voter negative. Vote NO

Ivy Log Leonard, no need to buy that foolish hoopla again and again.

After all you know our upstanding Board wouldn’t mislead us –“they” insist that you must continue to humbly approve the never ending, always increasing, additional tax (you know it’s only one penny) and although “we”(that is your anointed Board of ED, the self-promoting Malone & group, and now the NGN) told you it would just be short term and from the start,“we” didn’t really mean that, there is just so much additional stuff we just had to have, you know “for the kids”(so our constant demands for more and more money has to be on the up and up), but you should have really always known no tax is temporary, so it’s all your own silly faults.

Now, you better not VOTE NO, as "we," intend to forever hold this proverbial gun to you head about increasing you property taxes as retribution, and to get what “we” want. And you can bet “we” will make you sorry that you ever agreed to this Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (man isn’t that a tricky name) scheme from the start.

Now straighten up, and behave like the peasants you are, and do as “we” say, after all “we” are wiser and know more about what’s best for you and your children, what you must spend, what “we” want and what you will pay than you.

So quit making trouble,“we” just don’t intend to reduce spending, so if “we” have to come after you for more and more of your property taxes so be it.

I recall a short time back, if we voted in alcohol our property taxes would be lower.

That's something to think about before you vote.

What happened to the tax that was gonna build the the big new building above the new high school. The fine arts complex flopped. so will this tax. Why do they need another field house? They mention sports along with this tax, hoping everyone will be for it. I think the school board will come up with all sorts of stuff they "need" and just keep spending as long as we have this tax. They need to plan on operating on little bit tighter budget and not assume they are gonna have all this extra money to do things with.Live within your means school board and school system. Educating the kids should be priority not who has the newest field house, newest buses or biggest building. Sorry, I'm voting NO and I encourage you to think about it before you vote. Taxes are going to rob everyone if we let them have their way again.

Isn't there already TWO field houses there anyway? IIRC the newer one has a high dollar weight room and the coach has an office that is fit for a king. Why is there a need for another one? Last week I got stuck in traffic while the school buses came out and I noticed that the vast majority of them looked like they were very late model. How often does the board think they need to replace the buses, every year? What does the board do with the old buses anyway? If the Esplost pays for new buses does the board get to spend the money they get for the old ones any way they choose? I have no problem with paying a fair amount of taxes for the benefit of the students but come on, I think our school board is getting just a little bit excessive in what they want from us taxpayers.

From my point of view, putting a new field house on the list of projects for ESPLOST will be its ultimate undoing. Surely after all the negative comments about how much was spent on artificial turf the school board would have figured out that they needed to steer clear of sports projects for a while. People can usually go along with new classrooms or the performing arts center, but a new field house?? Poor decision making from school management on this one, in my opinion.

I agree with the last 3 posts.. Why do they need another field house ? Why do they need to keep buying new buses? With regular maintainence could they not extend the life of the buses. Quit dreaming up crap to spend money on. The people will not fall for it. We the people are tired of paying these taxes that are forced onto us just so the few can sit around and have a buying spree. Take care of what you have & Use what you got .

Everyone needs to read and pay attention to todays NGN. All your so called public servants are promoting the ESPLOST. We have just lost the majority of our fortune because of inventive financial structures and endeavors by Banks, Stock Brokerage houses and Politicians. Did you know that if you borrow money from a bank such as United that when you sign the note you also agree to not have a jury trial should you disagree with them for some reason. Now just what would they fear from a jury? Our whole Govt. and financial institutions are made up of people trying to take from the public with no recourse. Now just why would anyone with an ounce of sense vote for a tax that they know will only be wasted and will not lower present or future taxes. People you had better wake up and smell the coffee or the lowlifes of this nation will surely bury you.

Everyone go to the meeting Thursday and let the click know that we do not want to extend the sales tax. They are trying to sugar coat it with all these sweet ideals, things they promised years ago when it passed the first time. We have yet to get the fine arts building and other things. So why should we believe them this time. Waste of time and money.

So this is not a new tax but an extension of the tax that we are already paying, thanks for mentioning that.

This IS a new tax. Each one lasts a finite length of time. The current one is about to expire. No matter how the tax is marketed, it's legally a new tax. We need some tax relief, not new taxes in today's economy.
