Mr. Tom Wilson from the State Dept. of Education will be the new superintendent for UC schools. I hope everyone welcomes him to our community. This must be an exciting time for the school employees and students. Let's lift him up in prayer and support for our schools.

I would say that R. Byers and the Pervert Principle are not very happy either! Rumor was they both had cleaned out their desk and was getting ready to move in Lewis's office.

I have heard that the teachers and other school employees are excited about a new superintendent. Most of them are ready for a change.

He needs to start with the usless guidance counselor at the HS, she is unqualifed, useless and has messed up the lives of many of the students, she has way overstayed her time there. I can't tell you how many horror stories of mis-guidance of students that I have heard from other parents. We need someone educated and capable of helping our high school students plan for their future, she is in way over her head and I can't imagine how she has kept her job??? Oh that's right, she has family that works there too???

I pray we welcome him with open arms, that he has the teachers best interest at heart and wants a great education for our student.
stupid decision

That was a very stupid decision to hire outside our system while we have many good people inside the system. That is the kind of stupidity that got two of the school board members voted out of office. The other three need to be gone also.

This school board has raised taxes and cut teachers pay and now they go out and hire somebody already retired - that is just stupid.

Lord help us. I agree the school board hiring a retired person who isn't familiar with the school district is a poor choice.

i agree that this was a stupid decision. how can he know whats best for our school when he has no clue about anything here? there are many well qualified school employees and administrators that have morals and demonstrate fairness. they didnt have to go outside the system. that was not in the best interest of the students. not only that, but now the state of ga is paying him 2 salaries. i dont think retired administrators who recieve retirement benefits should be allowed back in any full time position with a school. its not fair to others that could use one income!

And your point would be?

In the state of Georgia it is perfectly legal to hire a superintendent that has retired from another state. This is usually referred to as double dipping. This allows the qualified candidate (if agreed) to work at a lowered salary. The reason that double dipping is so popular in the US is due to a shortage of qualified candidates. Sound familiar? Our school system is overflowing with them! And in this article Mr Wilson was praised for his accomplishments and knowledge of managing a successful school system, something that this area has not known for several years. With the exception of Lewis (who was well qualified and thrown to the wolves) this school system and the children have suffered because of the past administration choices. Whether it was on top of the desk or under this behavior needs to stop. We have plenty of coach/administration wannabes but tell me how a former coach is qualified to manage a school system? He’s not that’s where we stand now. Why would you give that much responsibility to someone that can’t even fulfill his principal position? Don’t you think this person should have a degree in business as well? It does not make sense to have a superintendent and three assistants to hold his hand. Then for the assistant to hire their brother, cousin and Aunt Sally to help hold down the fort.

So, if your argument is that he will be receiving retirement from another state plus his salary you my friend do not have an argument. Currently in our school system there are several teachers/administration that have retired and still SUCK off the payroll as part time employees and nothing has been said until now. I’m sure the night of the school board meeting a lot of crying and whining was taking place since they had probably promised several positions if appointed.(You know who I’m talking about!)

If you really want to discuss a problem then inquire who was paying for superintendent training for Ron and Ed.(The Board!) I guess all that grooming spent on the hopes of being hired was a waste of time. One of them needs to retire and the other needs to work for his paycheck instead of pushing his responsibilities off on Mrs Burns. Maybe the money for training should have been spent on copy paper since there is a shortage in the school system. In my opinion a big thank you should go to the school board for making such a wise and intelligent choice for the future of our children. I for one will welcome our new superintendent with open arms. And I’m hoping that he is up for the challenge because we are in the middle of a huge good ole boy mess.

As we learned in the last election, change is not coming to Union County. Honey I hate to tell you this but CHANGE is HERE. And the system to which you have become a custom to is definitely a thing of the past. Good luck to the good ole boys because its time for them to go to the house!

if you cant getthe point by reading the post then me breaking it down for you isnt going to help you comprehend it any better. i dont agree with anyone double dipping and im aware it is currently happening!

honey, i hate to tell YOU but this was a bad move on the board period. someone in the system should have been hired. it was stupid to go outside the system when there are others within the system and know the system who would have been better suited.

Really? A stupid decision you say?

Im not for sure what religion that you are affiliated with but if you think our past administration demontrates good morals and fairness, let me be the first to suggest YOU might want to convert religions.

Lets reminisce about the past administrations accomplishments, shall we?

First example: we had a principal who was accused of distributing porn throughout the emailing system of our school. And rumors were flying around that he was giving a certain female employee more than just her paycheck. You know what I mean.

Second example: our superintedent's son (who worked in the school system) was mysteriously aboard a plane that was charged for having drugs aboard. And the strange thing was HE HAD NO IDEA! DUH! Thats why teachers/employees are not tested for drugs.

Third example: The Stephens Scandal that rocked the board to the core. For goodness sake man keep it in your pants. And if thats not fesable have the decency to take your extra curricular activities off school property. Guess he was full of special treatment!

And last but not least recently a student teacher who slipped through the system. Unaware of his past arrest and drug habit was allowed into the classroom to demonstrate his wonderful talents of teaching. Do you agree that this was a fine example for our teens?

Say what you may about the 2 salaries but I assure you this has been going on for years in the school system. Some of these retirees can not be weened of the government tit per say. As for him being an outsider Im embrrased that this kind of morals and fairness takes place where my child is getting a so called education. But Im sure he could tell some stories of his own.

The conclusion of this story is hiring someone from the inside is BAD. Unless you are one of the ones who is not misbehaving I guess you have a right to cry.

Honey I know the individuals that were considered for the position and honestly Im NOT impressed. When you apply for a job you dont ask for an assistant first thing. This is a one man show. Mr Wilsons credetials are well OVER qualified compared to the others that thought they had it in the bag.
