My SPLOST money is going for crappy projects ,such as Byron Reece center. Who will never be famous or appreciated.

Its gone for a flea market. We don't grow enough crops for a farmers market. It is and always will be a flea market.

Its gone to buy property from friends of government officials.

Its gone to take care of private subdivision roads. That were poorly built and will never be good roads because the property owners will not turn over the right of way to county.

Its gone for a canning plant for folks to feel like they did 50 years ago when they canned their gardens. Not when they bought vegetables from Ingles or farmers market in Atlanta.

Problem is we never have anyone to run for commisioner who is really any better than we got.

I don't agree with Mr. Paris. He is wrong on many fronts. But he is better than any one who has run against him.

The only way you will get him out is to give him enough rope to do himself in.

That is what has happened in other counties in the state. Look at the CEO's of Gwinnett and other large organisations like Cobb EMC.
Same thing will happen at BRMEMC.

Allison and Ralston dont want to piss off the local folks and are waiting till state of Georgia or federal authorities step in.

This is what happened to the other powerful family that ran Union county for years
. Took and
insurance violation to put them in jail and make them untouchable.

But for years we were told it was not $hit but duck weed we smelled!
and while I am at it I never thought I would see Norman made to look better than he has by Charles.

Charles will talk about part of his family but there are other members he will not touch.

Well I'm working my butt off, so the state can pay little Davey his welfare, food stamps and we health insurance.

Also working hard so my tax money can offset your stupidity of making a daily habit wasting time in the county office asking for copies of records and wasting money and staff time.

Glad to know I am not forgotten. Don't come on here much, so it is nice to know that I made enough of an impact to keep the littl paranoid squirrels running in circles in their cages :)

On a more positive note, in examination of the Abandonment of the $2,000,000 Jail Project, lets look at some of what Commissioner Paris said when he was "Selling the SPLOST Vote" back in 2008.

Here is an an excerpt from the January 23, 2008 edition of the North Georgia News (County Newspaper) in which overcrowding is discussed, and Commissioner Paris basically threatens higher Property Taxes on Voters if they do not pass the Splost – specifically using the Jail as a mandatory reason monies are needed:

{The Union County Jail which was contracted and under construction before Paris came into office, was built too small – designed for only 52 inmates. It is averaging 70 – 75 people per night and the inmate population has reached as high as 99.“OUR JAIL HAS TO BE EXPANDED,” Paris said,“We can either pay for it with SPLOST or we can pay for it with property tax”}

And here is a Video from the same timeframe of Paris talking about hte Jail. I have edited it to make it very short and Only contains the part about him talking about the jail.

http://youtu.be/mEGjKQ1YeuE

But did you get a jail? No, you are getting a BB Gun Range.

None of this is going to stop until David Ralston, Stephen Allison start having to defend the actions of theses folks. When Mr. Ralston and Mr. Allison have to start explaining how they did not know this money and projects were being built it will continue.

BTW--It is a flea market! Nothing wrong with a flea market. Why is it not called that? Lol

Send them certified copies of my Union County News Report. Be hard to claim ignorance after reading that. There is a reason it is laid out in Print Size 8.5 x 11. Distribution has never stopped. Everyone with an email and a link to the PDF, or everyone with a Printer can print and give a copy to someone influential.

Why don't you include the District Attorney. He is well aware of what we put together. David has given him the opportunity to give his side of the story about the cover up of Judy Spiva but he has remained silent. David sent him a copy of his 24 page newsletter. How long will he be able to keep his job as a DA when it gets out that he to was covering up for Lamar and not checking into the information that was laid out for him a 8th grader could read and understand.

We can add the Attorney General to the list because he too has sat back and ignored the warning signs. Pretty soon all these elected officials will be distancing themselves from Lamar because they know they are going to be caught up in the web of lies and cover-ups.

We can change the world if we just all step up and do something before it's to late.

The DA has his hands full. He helped get Judge Lynn Akeley-Alderman elected.

Well actually the DA Langley was working for Gunter when he was DA. But Langley did ask folks to vote for her.

Alderman is telling folks around Dahlonega that she is going to run for DA. I expect a great deal of information to surface when she if/does qualify.

Last week I hear Ms.Alderman asked a judge to arrest some state of Georgia employees.

She is at the end of her rope so I would think Langley knows all of this.

And probably has trepidation's about her as an adversary.

No telling what she knows.

And would be willing to tell.

The county, though it habitually claims otherwise, is not losing money by fulfilling its legal obligations as set forth in Georgia state law. There is a reimbursement in an appropriate amount for a county employee to retrieve and prepare the requested documents. Yeah, sometimes it may take a little more time to gather the documents; however, that's generally the result of poor, intentionally or not, document organization and controls. Some may say that the county employee could be doing other things than retrieving the legally required documents. Some may respond to that by saying the person most likely can find the time between the normal tasks to retrieve these documents. I'd venture to say that no one in a county office works continually every hour and every minute of the day. If that person did, it wouldn't be a government job, almost by definition.

SPLOST 2,3, 4 Where is YOUR MONEY Going?
Do you Remember what you voted on in each SPLOST Referendum?
Are we reliving Ground Hog Day?
SPLOST 2 Referendum:
The Renovation, Expansion, and Equipping of the Existing Library
The Acquisition, Construction and Equipping of a New Community/Youth Center
(Was the Library built? Was a Youth Center Built?)
SPLOST 3 Referendum:
Jail Renovations & Expansion $2,000,000
Library Renovation, Expansion, and Books $900,000
Park & Recreation Facilities and Land Acquisition $5,350,000
Solid Waste Transfer Station/Recycling Center and Renovation & Expansion $750,000
New Multi-Use Building for Economic Development Offices, Community Center, Recreation Dept. & Pro Shop $3,500,000
(Where's your jail? Where's the Transfer Station Improvements? Where's the money to pay for the Community Center?
Look at the money that is allotted for recreation. As of the 2012 audit the county has spent almost $3 million Dollars. That's just for Recreation.)

SPLOST 4 Referendum:
Acquisition of Union County Community Center pursuant to an Intergovernmental Contract with the Urban Redevelopment Agency of Union County $5,500,000
Library Upgrades, Improvements, Equipment $100,000
Solid Waste Upgrades, Improvements & Equipment $200,000
Parks & Recreation Upgrades, Improvements & Vehicles $3,400,000
Economic Development Facilities and Land Acquisition $300,000
PROJECTS ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING
SPLOST proceeds can only be used to fund capital outlay projects. SPLOST proceeds may not be used for maintenance and operation costs related to the proposed SPLOST projects or any previously approved projects.
Capital outlay projects are major projects which are of a permanent, long-lived nature, such as land and structures

In case of a “shortfall” of SPLOST funds to pay for projects, what happens?
The approved projects could be scaled back, but not abandoned. A local government MUST MAKE UP ANY SHORTFALL from their GENERAL FUND or OTHER FUNDING SOURCES.
Can a county or municipality change its mind and not fund one or more of the SPLOST projects despite voter approvalin a referendum? NO!
We are voting on the same projects over and over again. Where IS THE MONEY GOING that is collected during each SPLOST period?
Why are projects being bounced from one SPLOST to another?
Why are major SPLOST projects being abandoned?
Just how much are we going to spend on a library when libraries are closing and are now obsolete ?
SPLOST 4 Library project, is this a major project that is permanent and long lived?
Do Books and Computers fall into that category?
The Multi Purpose Building that was to be built for 3 million in SPLOST 3 has rolled over to SPLOST 4 with a payment of $5,500,000.
Do you see a pattern here? Lamar is going to end up forcing us to pay for these projects out of the General Fund.
When Are YOU going to WAKE UP and see the reality of what is happening in Union County?
Might I add I just read in the promoting of SPLOST 2 about the:
HOMELAND SECURITY INFRASTUCTURE
That was going to be built with SPLOST 2 Funds.
Where is it?
