I just want to say that I was saddened to see that Judge Stone has made the decision to step down in his role as Chief of Superior Court. However in the same breath, I also realize that every good thing must end. I hope the city of Blairsville and the occupants thereof, realize how fortunant they have been to have had Judge Stone represent truth and justice for those in need. He has been a tremendous asset in his service to the community and coming from someone whose life he impacted and changed in ways unknown,I will forever remember and be eternally grateful for your wisdom and tender mercies. I think of you often and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

That's pretty harsh, the law is the law and even if Judge stone would have wanted to give you back your money, it is still against the law. If you don't like it, appeal it, that's the beauty of our judicial system...

The 1st poster obviously hasn't ever sat in Judge Stones courtroom and watched the bias and special interest unfair rulings and orders that he signed. Especially the ones drafted by his favorite attorney. Good riddance Stone, you won't be missed.

The only thing preventing Stone and Barrett from being good judges is lack of good judgement.

Amen. They both need to go. I remember the sentence Stone handed down to some poor woman with 5 kids for a speeding ticket that she tried to fight cuz her dumb neighbor shot her dog. That judge gave her 12 months probation and cuz she missed one appt threw her in jail for a month. Good riddance to him.

My family, my attorney, and myself sat in his courtroom and listened to his reply when my attorney pointed out to judge Stone " Your honor, that is not the law of Georgia", where as judge Stone responded "Its the law in MY courtroom". I see no beauty in that.

I have known Judge Stone for many years. I have found him to be straight, honest, fair and above all a good person.
You might not like the outcome of some of his cases, but, I have found he plays no favorites, knows the law and admnisters it fairly.
This county will miss him his wisdom & honesty.

We have Judge Barrett to take his place in "the law in MY courtroom" decisions. I wonder what ever happen to Ethics, Fairness, and Respect for others when it comes to some of Union Counties judges? Every person who steps foot in a courtroom is not a slug or lower than scum, but to listen to the way MOST people are spoken to, you'd think they were. It is good to know that even judges will someday be judged and their Judge WILL be respectful, fair, and compassionate. I wonder if they will notice the difference.

I have never seen a more tainted system than the one in Union County, from the cops unathorized searchs, to the DA and Judges not giving one ounce of care about the laws of the state of proof of guilt or innocents, if anyone believes otherwise just talk to the people who live there, poor people. teenagers and look at the cases, total abuse of rights and no one to change it, no one cares.
Even though Judge Stone is gone (Thank Heavens) their are plenty of rulers to take his place and no one can stop them

Barrett is the worst judge in the history of bad officials. He is utterly incompetent - except in his own twisted mind.

Judge Stone ignored our contempt charges to run off to lunch. he interrupted without hearing both sides, and quickly dismissed to run out the door. there were months of compiling records and hard work (and money) to just trash in a matter of minutes - all for lunch.
his somewhat sexist comments ("i'm more stubborn than a woman") were a red flag, and his "MY courtroom" attitude.
is it illegal to shoot judges? anyone? just throwing it out there... should anyone want to go postal. i'll look the other way.[disclaimer: i do not endorse or support the harming of this douchebag.[disclaimer-disclaim er: or do i?]]

It will be o.k. now., the Gowders will, as always, give back to the community and change our court system...or will they be heard in a federal courthouse or both? I wonder who they voted for? Convicted felons can't vote, so much for future favors. I am sure that everything will be watched very closely by all.

Our District Attorney said they covered up the stealing of county funds by Judy Spiva.

It's amazing how that works in this county. It all depends on who you are.

I am very glad that I am not related to any of the ones who have been dishonest and as far as I know none of my friends are. I really think something is up, maybe one or more of the "recently disgraced" decided to tattle since they all seem to hang out together and "carve" up the assets in Union Co. at will. Now that would be funny. I have always wondered why she was not procecuted and it seems to me that it hasn't been covered up very well since everyone still talks about it..
