I have two elderly parents and plenty of elderly neighbors I help..It most certainly does not cover 100%....Years ago ,it did....before they figured they could make money off the secondary insurance's.

And have you ever thought about travel expenses, to and from all the doctors. And in home care they might need. Or supplies, which Medicaid does not cover. Medicaid is not what it used to be and there's alot of expenses when your sick that people don't think about. Quit whining and help people, then maybe your mind would be off yourself and on something productive.

Sometimes sick people need help paying other bills too. Just like us healthy folk they need to eat and pay their power, water, and phone bills. They also need to be able to put gas in their vehicles and keep insurance on it. Just because they are sick does not mean they should have to do without basics.

Diagnostic Expenses

Georgia Medicaid programs cover diagnostic services such as CAT scans, MRIs, X-rays, blood work and urinalysis. You must have a physician referral and your physician must have a justifiable reason for ordering the tests.

Hapgoluck is NOT a liar. I think they are just trying to
be helpfull. People that need a mri can suffer a lot before they can get one, which would tell whats wrong better then a ct scan or x-ray can. Sometimes some doctors don't know to order one because they don't know what disease the person has or has never seen the disease that the person has. Medicaide may cover things but they might not tell the patient, just as insurance companys.

Years ago, maybe today also (but I don't know), diagnostic centers, hospitals and other medical service providers usually "wrote off" or "adjusted" remaining balances to zero after Medicare/Medicaid and any secondary insurance amounts were paid. In fact, I believe that for Medicare (maybe Medicaid too?), such remaining balances were "contractually obligated" to be adjusted to zero. Is this no longer the case?

Maybe this is why one person says it is 100% paid which, in effect, would be true. Has this contractual write-off adjustment requirement changed? I'm too young to qualify and have been out of that biz for quite a while now.

I'am very glad to hear that! But it is a shame that she had to pay out of pocket. Best of luck to her and her son and to you.
