Q. Will your efforts in DC pay any dividends in Union County?
A. I certainly hope so. The information gathered and the contacts made could have a tremendous impact over time. We still have one major road project (widening of US 19/129N) that I have been pushing for several years. A coalition of Georgia and N.C. officials Are going to put on an even bigger push this year to at least have the project placed on the State of Georgia Transportation Enhancement Project list, which could possibly achieve funding within four years. New highway projects now take years to go through all the process from engineering, right of way acquisition clearance, to final construction-usually a five year process.
VOTE NO TO THE TSPLOST!
VOTE LAMAR the tax and spend commissioner OUT!
www.cleanandopen.org

Lamar has been preaching his message "the Sun will shine on us and jobs will beg to come to union county" for the last 11 years.
Net jobs for union county are a minus with Paris in office. Net taxes for the last 11 years of Paris in office is close to a 100% increase.

Net tax revenue disappeared close to $10 million.

Net tax revenue in interest paid out by county to favored loans to spend tax monies upfront over $5 million.

Now that $5 million could have been used to build the horse arena, the farmers market, purchase the 30 acres for meeks park, build the Suches community center, fix the re-cycle center, and resurface a few roads.
Or it could have been used as a pay raise for the lower salaried employees of the county.

But no, Lamar is a finance man, who people thinks has magic in his fingers. Well he does has magic, he makes money disappear.

Vote NO to Tsplost, keep your money in your pocket so Lamar doesn't make it disappear also.

Why thanky ye ole creek swimmer for the heart blessing. Like most retirees day or night makes no difference. One has to live while awake, never knowing if indeed one may awake after sleep.

I have awesome tomato plants going and pepper. I planted other things too early and I decided not to start over. I am afraid I am not too good at farmer woman stuff. I will buy from you good people who are better at it.

Politicians can sure do a dance routine when the heat is applied about taxes. First they're for it, then they're agin it, next week who knows.

several questions for all you Lamar supporters.......

Why is Lamar quiet about the tsplost tax?

Since he is chairman of the region rountable and is responsible for a lot of the proposed projects why is Union county getting the short end of the stick with this tax?

Why has Lamar not published in the NGN his promise of naming a committee and his proposed projects with the 25% LARP monies the county would get with the tsplost tax if passed?

Why has Lamar not acknowledged the county would need to come up with over $25 million IF the 4-laning of murphy hwy gets started?

Is Lamar nothing but a tool of the State Republican
party?

Why did Lamar give false information to the Chamber of Commerce about the percentage of tourist dollars in taxes that are collected in union county?

Other than special favors Lamar has given you, why do you continue to vote for him?

Why does Lamar lie?

Why did he lie to the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs about what the SPLOST projects were going to cost and when he was going to build them. It looks like Lamar has a very hard time telling the truth.

The closer the Tsplost tax comes to a NO vote, the more State Reps and county commissioners are disavowing it.
And these are the same sorry elected officials who have tried to get the people to like and pass this sorry excuse of a tax to begin with.

T-SPLOSTS AND REGIONS
There has been more than enough information presented here to convince any reasonably intelligent person to vote NO to this never ending tax.
But there is another aspect that has had little attention other than by poster T SPLOST. That is the “twelve regions created by the State” or as T SPLOST correctly called it an “additional layer of government”. So now we have State, Regional, County, and City Governments.
This brings me to this question to all of the ever so wise and dedicated elected officials and supporters of this tax and its’ twelve regions. If you are so wise and sincere that you believe that this regional concept is so great for the people, why not just form twelve counties out of the current 159. This would eliminate hundreds of County Commissioners and staff, numerous other elected officials, road depts., etc. etc. etc. not to mention the fewer courthouses, and a multitude of other duplications that could be run more efficiently and more cost effective.
Stupid me, me thinks I just answered my own question. The greed for more and bigger government.
One more thing, if this regional government thing is not eliminated by the State, this tax is just the beginning of much, much, more to come.

Your last sentence strikes at the heart of what the State has planned for Region control. State officials are tired of dealing with 159 county officials who are always asking for something. By getting approval by a vote on a 1 cent tax, the path of less resistance is established for more region control as an intermediary between the State and the counties.

We have a lot of county commissioners who are selling their county home rule for a mess of porridge. These county commissioners and all State Reps should be voted out of office.

We will have to start with Lamar. I don't think our Rep. has any one running against him. Neither does Ralston.

It don't take long for them politicians to change their tune about tsplost. They hold their wet finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing and do an about face on any subject.

And I'm not referring to Lamar this time although he does the same.....

I read that letter yesterday. I don't understand why everyone cannot see the truth about TSPLOST the way he does. The man has it down to a science.
