If your going to pull facts out of your butt then people won't read anything else you type either. Tulsa Oklahoma is the meth capital of the world. CNN did the report at the beginning of the year.

This area was at one time the meth capital. If that has changed I applaud LE. That is one distinction we don't need. You really can't believe anything CNN tells anyway.

Back was a kid, the SF was worth mentioning.

Now however it is nothing but annoying. Used to be a celebration of our way of life, now it is just a tourist trap that all the move in's "just adore"..While generational locals scoff at it.

Wouldn't be caught dead there.

then why not show some moonshiners being arrested, jailed, and their families lives ruined? Moonshine was a 'cash crop' with legal risks. This is part of the heritage of moonshine in the area. It gave needed money to still operators, jobs to law enforcement, and cash bribes that gave rise to our current judicial system. Not to mention NASCAR.
Now we hawk it to our kids.

Moonshine is becoming legal as it well should be. Prohibition never worked and never will. Its time to tax the product so the only reason their families lives would be ruined is beacuse the product was illegal. Now that its becoming legal their families can profit from it. Its no different then making homemade wine.

Very reasonable position.

I haven't heard of anyone being forced to brew moonshine, or forced to drink it.

I do believe their should be some inspection process before it's sold to others on a commercial basis simply to assure it's safe.

Besides... Moonshiners are preserving a cultural heritage, and what they make goes well with cigars - now that's a "win-win."

Well, gosh I'm confused then. CNN did a report on meth that showed this area on the GA/TN line as meth central. The Oxycontin Express also comes through here.

In Greenup, Kentucky, a quiet community that locals describe as "Mayberry", we witnessed the devastating impact Florida's pills have had on rural communities throughout Appalachia. Everyone has been affected, from self-described "pill billies" serving time in overcrowded prisons to families that both deal and inject Oxy.

Call our last school superintendent up and ask him if he thinks drugs are being brought in here.

Odd, I haven't heard of anyone being forced to cook meth, or forced to shoot it.

Me too Informed Opinion! We went to the Apple Festival in Ellijay on Saturday and the Sorghum Festival Sunday and there was no comparison in my mind. Meeks Park is such a fabulous setting for the event.
There is something special about all the fall festivals and apples. Meeks Park is really pretty.

So... you purport to be speaking on behalf of "generational locals", eh? Just a suggestion... DON'T, because more than just a few attended and had a fun time without YOU.

To the organizers... GREAT job, and you are appreciated! Gets bigger and better each year. Thanks to all the locals that attended... I know that all of the crafters and food vendors that I spoke with truly appreciated your support and generosity. The festival is a gem that Blairsville can and should be proud of- nice job.

Since meth is so popular among our young people, perhaps a meth festival is in the works.
