If that link doesn't work, type in "It's not about the nail" in the youtube search box.

Great post.

"It's not about the nail" should be required viewing for all men - it explains why we work so hard to solve problems - and get harassed for doing it.

The essence of this video is to tell men to be PRESENT in their woman's life. The nail was a distraction and the best thing he could have done is to let nothing or no one in the relationship. Time costs nothing and it is the best present of all. Make the romance continue beyond the first date and continue to make each other a first priority.

When you get married you'll enjoy the experience.

The Wife wants to discuss ad nauseam a problem at work, the solution to which is glaringly apparent in 10 seconds, but she doesn't want to know the solution - she wants to talk about it.

Our goal is to solve the problem quickly and efficiently with the least amount of "communication."
Then grab a beer and watch the Bears.

"Their" goal is to "communicate" thoughts and feelings, taking as long as possible, and we are just insensitive bastards because we lost interest when we solved the problem 10 seconds into the conversation.

I solved the problem by marrying a great lady who hates to "communicate" - she's a solve the problem and move on kind of women. The only problem is that neither of us will ever answer a ringing phone - we hate to "communicate" with those who enjoy "communicating."

No big Informed Opinion, you are not in trouble but dang lucky maybe. I did not want to reply to your post but after reading your marital advice I decided to take you on. Since you are so informed, opinionated, plus quick thinker then what was your 10 second assessment to your wife's revelation to you about her job? I hope the other poster appreciates your advice on marriage.

Hi Laurel- I like YOUR take on it, but I suppose I might take things more "literal" like IO has done. Just FYI- WAS married 21yrs, divorced 3 now... still friends.

Laurel... perhaps YOU are single and available? We could really give 'em somethin' to talk about...! >;-)

Surprising, an analysis I kinda-sorta believe to be accurate. Though many will disagree, men and women were created differently.

In many cases we view things from vastly different perspectives, with just as markedly different reasons.

That doesn’t take anything from either the male or female. It simply verifies Gods infinite wisdom in balancing the needs of humanity with the fundamentals of creature logic, and the compassion of acquiescent emotion. Both necessary for what was intended for humanity.

If you would like to read an interesting book, check out Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus-it's also available in a shorter version on tape.
IMHO it should be mandatory reading before marriage.

Mike, your " I totally don't get it" statement is an understatement. In my view, of course, you display that in many of your postings.

Nonetheless, Laurel Woods, isn't for you. Again, in my view, she is well meaning, and sincere, unfortunately, in her innocence she succumbs to many of the devious deceptions that, many of the less obvious political malevolent, groups surreptitiously inflict.

In all respect to you, ask only that you never use the word political to anything about me. Just read my home page and see Boehner is yapping about us being out of money in October. That's a scary headline coming from the worst of the worst in time for Halloween probably. There is not a person on the face of this earth I would vote for. Now you criticize me any way you want but do not attach my name to anything political, biggest bunch of ignorant idiots in office now since George Washington.

No need to have hurt feeling. My posting was more of a complimentary defense in your behalf than any disparagement.

My purpose wasn’t to engage your ire. Nevertheless, I find it most disingenuous to devote the majority of your posting to partisan politics, and then attempt to prohibit those to which you speak from referencing you or your posting in any opinionated response.

You cannot on the one hand, discuss your opinions relating to politics in any manner you choose, while on the other, think you should be able to prohibit others from references to you and/or your postings in their responses.

Rational people wouldn’t justify that type of reasoning in any type of a anticipated fair and balanced debate.

Sorry for the off topic comment, my other comment on the video was good. I won't post here again and mess it up for you.

Good points.

Thanks for cutting me some slack.

I really love that video because it demonstrates, to me, what happens every day.

The other day a female employee told me that something I'd asked her to do meant she had to work on a Saturday.

I said OK and left.

I later heard she was mad at me because I refused to discuss her "complaint" that she had to work on Saturday.

I told my wife that story and she have me hell for not understanding that the comment about working on Saturday was actually a desire to discuss whether it was important enough to have to work on a Saturday; whether we could work together to find an alternative to her working on a Saturday; a chance for me to express gratitude for her working on a Saturday; and on and on.

I got a bourbon, a cigar, and turned on Monday Night Football.
