No more money for the football team.......no more wins.

We need MRI's for the injured, Playboy centerfolds for massage therapists. Nicer busses (with video, wifi). Special cooks for meals. More, and higher paid coaches. More assistant coaches, trainers, consultants. Motivational speakers, psychological evaluators

Maybe move the new field, like Turner Field is doing.

You cannot buy a winning team in Union County. Just like many other counties we have fallen into a dark hole. That hole is spending money trying to make untalented players into state champions. If you could fire all the coaches and do away with all the fields but one and start a new you could have a winning team in 3 yrs. Only need one coach who wasn't born and raised in Union County. Give him the freedom to use the best players and let little James who's father is down at the local bank and played here sit on the bench instead of the better players and you would be amazed at the turn around. Union is not alone. Most small counties have the same problem in trying to make sports hero's out of Mr. Right's kids. The big difference in Union and let us say Towns is the money we throw away. I would like to know the cost of sports in Union VS Towns county.

Do you have any idea who Lovett is. 80 man Varsity roster Private school ( which means they recruit the best players from a large area ) I think football starts in 7th grade. Union does not have the same area to pull from and will never be able to get past schools like this. Private all star teams should be in their own classification.I think recruiting starts at public schools track meets before High School. This is common across the Country. Btw most if not all players who could never afford to pay are given a free ride at these High Schools

Marist kicker filled in for GA regular kicker, Marshall, this season. Did very well.
Class A (lowest class) has already seperated the public/private schools.
Personally, I played in the lowest class in high school. We got pounded by Union, and all the other private schools like Arlington, Greater Atlanta Christian. Two of GAC players went on to Olympic teams though.....Cindy Brogdon-womens'76 basketball, John Crist-'84 mens track.
Scars you for life! LOL!

The other day someone told me that I was being a "Negatron." I guessed what it meant, but sought clarification; I was told that I needed to learn to be more positive, that I needed an attitude adjustment. My first reaction was, well normal, defensive "No way! I'm not negative!" But then I wondered if I really was very negative all the time and just chose to blame my circumstances for it... Maybe it really was time for a change!

I had always thought of myself as being a realist; I tell it like it is, no matter what the situation or the circumstance. Maybe a realist is just a negative person claiming to be otherwise. Or maybe we really are just surrounded by doom and gloom all the time, and hence that's what reality is! Naaah... I really do have faith in the human spirit and that we are capable of some tremendous things, and of doing some good in life! So it can't be all doom and gloom (there you go, a bit of a positive attitude from me for a change).

the Lovett/Lamar game announcers on GPTV said a lot of coaches were calling Lovett the best team in the state, for all classes.

I think Lovett won state in 2A because Buford moved to 3A. Lovetts only loss was to Washington Co, which Buford pounded for the 3A title. Buford pounded 5A Gainesville too, that had nations #1 QB.

Buford would have pounded Lovett.

Buford is a beast. Moves to 4A for next year.
