Nobody is arguing the requirements, but why should he pave his friends roads and bypass all the roads that have been qualified for years, with a whole lot of families living on them? Maybe their are gratuities involved?
That isn't factual. No roads have been "bypassed" if a request has been submitted. Qualified and doing to paperwork to get it done are two different things. A lot of people do not want the county to take over a private road. I owned a home on a private road. Most of the people refused to agree with the county taking it over because of the 15' easement. Others refused to fix the road full of ruts and holes in front of their property; they figured the county should do that.

The road directly in front of your property to the middle of the road belongs to the homeowner and the homeowner is responsible to keep it in good condition. Often times, everyone else pays for road maintenance for the loser who refuses to keep his section of the road drivable.

Most people don't understand what is involved and you apparently are one of them.

Is John Doe IV the same person as John Doe III?
Is John Doe III the same person as John Doe II?

Even when the John Does weigh the same and look the same,
are they the same? No!

The current Splost III was born in March 2009. It will die in March of 2015. It will die completely, and it will be dead, and it will be buried - GONE. Nothing can be done to revise Splost III at that tim. It came into existence with specific Legal DNA - designed to do a specific Job, having strict legal definitions of it's Life. It is an entity unto itself

Splost IV does not exist. It is not a probable, possible, or mandatory extension of Splost III. If born, then it would be a separate entity, designed with separate legal DNA, designed to do a separate and specific job.

Splost IV has no birth date, for it has not yet been fertilized. It is simply a concept (an egg) in the mind of the few that run the finances of the county. To be fertilized and grow into an entity, and eventually be born, it must be fertilized with a Vote.

The problem here is that the last birth created a monster that spent a bunch of money it wasn't supposed to do. Created a lot of Interest Only Debt it wasn't supposed to. It was also lazy and didn't do the work creating the projects it was supposed to. It played in the Recreation Fields all day - overspending money, and refusing to play with everyone - only playing with a few.

You have been courted very quickly, a first date so to speak, in seeing what the next Splost IV could look like. Don't be a whore Voter and jump into the sack on this one until you know more. Until you get answers about what happened last time. And for gosh sakes - think twie before committing Union County to $10,000,000 more in deb.

Hope that helps explains the SEPARATENESS of Splost II & Splost IV.

One was born and dies in 2 year.
The other is just a bad concept which never has to live.

PS... if you vote No this time, you will have a whole year to get answers, study the possible uses for the money,a nd actually make suggestions for how the money should be spent.

For the record, the 1st advertised public meeting was supposed to get input and suggestions fromt he voters. My understanding is that not a single question was asked to anyone about how they thought the money should be spent. It was a presentation TELLING YOU what was going to be done.

There is only One Reason to have a vote this early - Paris is itching to get the new Loans locked in, so that he can just start throwing money around again, without using wisdom or constraint.

WISDOM would suggest that you get answers to the questions raised first - then develop a more controlled plan, which does not include advance funding, certainly not high rate, interest only loans that continue past the life of the Splost - and then decide next November whether to pass it or not.

Recently, I have again begun addressing various critical political issues of vital importance relating to the betrayal we endure at the hands of our local, state, and federal government officials (Politicians).

While realizing this is an opinion forum, it is imperative that those wishing to provide creditable considerations of their opinions, regarding perceived corruption, mismanagement, or other dangers, attempt a good faith effort to provide sources relating to the facts we relied upon in bringing us to our conclusions.

Most times a multitude of verifiable sources are considered, rather than only one. Nevertheless, it is advantageous, while attempting to bring awareness’ to our state of affairs, to provide links to information posted in whole or in part.

Unfortunately, upon topix, uncouth malicious personally oriented assaults are the norm, with cultured, polite conversation often taking a back seat.

Both those posting, and those seeking information, after recognizing the true purposes of their visits to topix and identifying the normally self evident agendas of those malicious postings, are certainly smart enough to rise above the ploys of many who distract from and demonize those who are the most effective in the communication of positive and useful information.

Currently, the most pressing issues for Blairsville/Union County are the SPLOST and the Mayor/Town Council elections.

The Town of Blairsville, being our perceived economic hub, has a major impact upon each of us in Union County --- nonetheless, only those within the Town Limits may vote in that election. In and of itself that favors an incumbent reliant upon “big money” and the “powers that be.” The nature of politics itself, particularly with such a small group of voters, has a significant impact, not just on the Town elections, but also upon the economy of Union County in its entirety.

As for the Town, Lawsuits and mismanagement have not been addressed satisfactory and the people have been ignored (with attitude).

VOTE FOR NEW – RESPONSIVE LEADERSHIP

Why the rush to approve SPLOST now! The Commissioner admits fear of failure and plans for a repeated attempt at the normally scheduled time. Rather obvious isn’t it?

Confuse the vote NOW; with fewer voters. The Commissioner appears to have become an expert at double dipping.

Next year 2014 will be a hotly contested General Election with LARGE NUMBERS of VOTERS going to the polls. He doesn’t believe this to be in his favor with regard to another questionable SPLOST vote hanging in the balance.

So, what do you do? Hold it a year early, during the normal Township Mayor/Council elections. The voter turnout is extremely low, and everyone knows that normally only those in the Town may vote. Those in the County are not accustomed to going to the polls during the TOWN elections, and for the most part won’t.

A perfect scenario, what could possibly work better? The best of both worlds. You have the “political machine”(money/power) already in action to re-elect their marionettes in Town, so how easy to have those indebted to them, who are living in the County, simply go by the polls and vote for their pet project, the SPLOST.

A no brainer, just demonize the opposition as usual, create a little chaos, and you have victory. And what if you fail? No problem, you still have 2014 to do it all again. After all, you’ve gotten away with it time and time again.

STOP THE INSANITY

VOTE NO SPLOST !!!!
