Looks like the drivers of fire trucks and ems vehicles would want as clear sight for rushing to accidents and wrecks.
Looks like a liability to have dark window tint.

It's like all the other waste in $ that goes with the County. Doesn't matter that some people are working Day to day wondering how they are going to put food on the table let alone, pay the bills. Every County department is spending money like it doesn't matter. There is no oversight and Lamar don't care how much is spent or what it's spent on as long as theat department don't go over budget so he won't look bad. I miss the days {pre-Lamar}when each department had to justify thier budget and even after it was approved it was regulated.

It isn't just the county. The City is just as wasteful and the Feds are even worse.

Many fire depts and ambulance corps are tinting their vehicle windows and new apparatus can be ordered with tinted windows.
Don't know why but apparently it is the thing to do.

I see nothing in the Georgia law that allows this unless it's the exception that it was tinted before factory delivery. I could be wrong.

Are the cars bought for personal use from the county tinted before factory delivery?

If a State has a Code on how dark they can be as long as you meet the code it is legal.

I took the discussion to be about heavy tinting on the drivers window, similar to law enforcement vehicles, which is legal on those vehicles. Maybe I was taken in with my took.

Tinting of fire truck and EMS vehicles may be legal.

But it is surely stupid.

And the tax payer will have to pay for this stupidly when the liability kicks in.

All I can do is verify the legal aspects and the fact that many other Fire/Ambulance Depts are doing it and manufacturers are doing the process on new apparatus.
The potential/actual impact, I have no info or data on at this time.

Tinted windows are to keep the inside of the vehicle cooler for one thing. Tinting doesn't hinder the driver's ability to see out; but your ability to see in. I'm sure the justification is valid since window tinting is being done nationwide where funds are available.

As far as Union County goes, there are only 3 vehicles that have dark window tint. One of which is the chief the other is captain and the other is the Expedition they use for running med calls.

As far as the ambulance, there is no window tint on the doors. The only windows that are tinted are for the patient compartment, and its for privacy.

Horse $hit!
It is being done so the driver can hide. Or hide his rider.

Are the vehicles delivered from the factory with the dark window tint? If not, how does it reconcile with our state law?

The factory-delivered vehicle is excepted in 6(f) on the following website.

Laws and speed limits are only for common citizens.
If you are working for county or city you are exempt from laws and rules.
Folks who have county or city jobs are specially trained and have the skills that citizens would not be able comprehend.

There is no tint on the cab of the ambulance. Look at them sometime. You can see right through to both the driver and passenger. The back is tinted for patient privacy. Who wants everyone that is out driving to see their boobs while they are in the back of the ambulance! They are not sleeping in there either. They are taking care of sick patients. Also, remember the crap you are talking about now when you need their help. See how concerned about dark windows you are then.

All EMS and Fire vehicles come from the manufacturer this way. They are not tinted after delivery. They are also inspected by state officials so if they were not legal then they would not be on the road!

Wow.

Window tinting on Emergency Vehicles bothering us.

Please:
donate time to a charity,
take the kids fishing, or the library,
take Mom or Dad to breakfast,
visit the hospital and cheer up a sick friend,
read a book,
bake a cake.
go for a walk,
hike the trail,
have a beer,(and a good cigar),

relax and enjoy life.

it's just too short.

Oh - and cheer for whoever is playing the Giants.
