I say exempt anyone who wants to be exempted from the school tax. Then those people may not use the senior center, county transportation, meals on wheels, meeks park, the golf course, cannery, or any other county facility. Oh and lets not forget the nursing home and hospital.
Greats post.

As the "Baby Boomers" are retiring, the selfishness, greed, and lack of discipline with which they were raised becomes more and more apparent.

I don't want to work any more. I want to retire. So now I'm special and should have to pay bills like people who aren't special.

Oh.... And don't bother us with the $16 Trillion Dollar debt we caused with our stupid wars, stupid tax cuts, and stupid recessions - that's our children's and grandchildren's problem - screw 'em anyway.

Try as they might .... That's a ridiculous argument and one only the Greediest Generation would make.

Hey "water on the brain" boy.

I pay more Union County real estate taxes every year than you even earn, and that's just personally.

And unlike you, as a part-time resident, I utilize even less public services than you. No kids of mine have even seen a Union County school and never will, even though I have paid schools taxes here for over 16 years.

So if I had your greedy, selfish, screw our children attitude, I'd be on your self-centered side.

Stop making stupid statements - you embarrass yourself.

I don't think we should tax seniors at all. Most just live on their allowance and don't have the money to pay taxes. If we tax seniors, then we should also tax freshmen, sophomores ad juniors.
Great post. A definite contender for "Post of the Week".

Now, there you go - sayin something completely ass-backwards.

I ain't tryin to change nothin.

Everybody is payin taxes and everybody better keep payin 'em.

It's these newfangled yankees movin in abitchin they dont want to pay their taxes like regular people just cause they is old and still suckin air. Like being old and suckin air makes them "Special."

Well sonny, they ain't "Special", and they ain't any better than me.

It's been OK forever for my mommy and daddy, and it's OK for me, that everybody pays the same property tax rate.

Damn people - always awantin to be treated "Special".

Great.

Them since most of the "Move Ins", and most of the folks who own second homes here never sent a single kid to Union County schools, you'll be happy to make sure we don't pay school taxes either.

On second thought,
even if you manage to screw everyone else by getting Affirmative Action for member a of OSSA,(Old & Still Sucking Air),

I'll happily continue to pay school taxes because as Jefferson said - a democracy cannot exist without an educated citizenry.

I only hope when I become a member of OSSA, I spend more time trying to help my community than screwing my neighbors.

It ain't nothing special.

Just buy a few prices of property, individually, or in corporate name(s), and pay the requires property taxes.

You'll soon discover you pay more in taxes than most of those who attack you earn.

You see.... the people who whine the most about paying for all this great country provides are almost always those who pay the least to support it.

It's one of those ironies that is almost always true.

Kind like those who whine the loudest about Social Security, Medicare, and the AHCA are the very people who benefit most by them.

I guess when IO does his/her income tax he takes no deductions or write offs and no tax credits. Also if he owns a large amount of land he does not put any in special use in order to get a lower tax rate. He is not special so why do any of this.

I imagine in some way that post makes sense to you.

But the question posed was a direct assertion that certain people, simply as a result of getting older, should be granted "special" dispensation from paying school taxes.

Every argument brought forth allegedly supporting this "Special" status is easily eviscerated, which inevitably leads to the only rational conclusion, it's not a reasonable or fair thing to do.

Not only is it an unfair proposition, it's one more giant crack in the social contract that has held America together since it's creation - that is:

We will assure the general good above individual gain.

A nation of 300 million individuals who put personal gain above the public good is not a nation at all.

That crazy, leeeeeberal, socialist, Com'nist Libtard Thomas Jefferson's call for free public education.

http://jschell.myweb.uga.edu/history/legis/je...

"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power." --Thomas Jefferson to William C. Jarvis, 1820. ME 15:278

Why in the heck to the Atlanta Braves need a new stadium anyways? They haven't even been in the Ted for 20 years. Guess we serfs have to support these big corporations with our tax support even more.

Nice avoidance of my statement says much of your 2 sidedness. Why should you get special tax treatment.
