Bitter Creek has, by far, the best deli meat I've ever tried! I just bought some turkey and ham last week, and I will definitely go back.

It is located on the Young Harris highway. Continue a few miles past the movie theater. It is on the right in the same parking lot as woodpeckers.

several people have told me it's the best place to buy meat. I had Filet Mignon's from there, not cheap, but excellent.

I see a 'Boars Head' truck delivering there frequently, they have good stuff:

Is there anything better than Boars Head cold cuts?

In a rather long sandwich thread, someone never heard about Boars Head and asked what was so special about them because people mentioned them so often in the thread.

What is so special about them other than they are not Oscar Meyer and usually fresh cut? Off the top of my head the only thing I can think of is that I associate them with being a better quality than generic deli meat but I can't tell you why.

I never did a taste off between Boars Head and Oscar Meyer or whatever other cold cut might be out there.

I did do a taste off between Boars Head pastrami and some locally made pastramis. It was second to the bottom, the taste being mainly salt.

I do like Boars Head Black forest ham, but again, never compared it to another.

From the website it says they don't use fillers, artificial flavors or colors, by-products or cereals ... so I guess that makes them special.

Very funny picture and recipe for a Dagwood sandwich on the site. I guess it is about presentation.

The Dagwood uses Boars Head bacon which I don't think I've ever tried. Any good?

What about the condiments? Anything especially chow worthy there?

I don't know about the bottled pickles, but if your market ever has a pickle barrel of whole pickles, don't pass these up. They are crispy yet so juicy ... almost succulant if a pickle can be that ... those pickles are reason enough that Boars Head should be in business.

On weekends, they sell the best smoked baby back ribs. Try it, you'll like it.

Well, I had their BBQ sandwich once when I stopped by on a weekend and it was horrible. But never tried anything else. Boar's Head is good stuff. Not the greatest cold cuts, but by far the best you can find around here. I wish quality cold cuts could be found here! I get so depressed when I go to the deli and it's all just basic ham, turkey and roast beef. I guess if you have never had quality deli meats you don't know what you are missing.

Well, I hope you'll find it in your heart to pray for us locals that don't know any better. I was pretty happy with the bologna that Oscar Meyer fancied up with some pickles and cheese bits mixed in it, that is until you pointed it out to me. You might find that you'd be happier living in Dekalb county where you can get your fancy cold cuts, and a heapin offering of specialty black soul food cuts, pickled pigs feet, hog jowls, and such....

I'll just stick here with the filet mignon, lobster, and baby back ribs.

I get the feeling that you are very difficult to please. Maybe you'd be happier if you went back to wherever you came from. Please....

Depressed at the deli. Seek counseling, please, or stick your head up your butt and smell that fresh quality hot stuff.

Now I know why some of the locals have that fresh stuff coming out of their mouths.

Should Blairsville apologize for having a deli? I never thought a place that sold food would make a person depressed.

You just don't know how lucky you are to have a place like that at TrackRock. Outdoor weekend grilling for sale. Hot boiled peanuts and tomatos for sale across the street. And the most beautiful view of Brasstown Bald there is.

Life is good. Enjoy it.

We shop at Bitter Creek about once a week. They have the best meat in town and Dan (he and his wife, Lisa, own Bitter Creek) makes excellent breakfast sausage, Italian sausage and sometimes bratwurst and kielbasa.
