I'm wanting to switch from Windstream to BRMEMC internet service. My question is...Do I still have to have Windstream as my phone provider? Or can I cancel my home phone too and get rid of Windstream altogether? My goal is to cancel all windstream services, but I don't know if it's possible. Any advice is appreciated.

Last time I checked with BRMEMC they said they get their service from Windstream. We asked about fiber optics, after waiting 3 months they came back and said it was going to be to expensive to run to my home. We are about 4/10's of a mile off 129.

We had so many problems with Windstream until we went with the 12mps. SOOOOOO Much better. You pay a little more but not having all the headaches makes it worth every penny.

Someday maybe they will have competition in this area.

ACOG you need to call the EMC and ask that question again, according to what they recently told me their service IS NOT provided by windstream. I think in some cases you can use them as a phone provider too, but you should call them to find out for sure.

Maybe a EMC employee will set the record straight. I am just posting what I was told.

There was no way I wanted to change services just get get my service back from Windstream. That is why I asked about Fiber Optics.

I'm wanting to get rid of all of windstream services. Phone and internet, but trying to find out if I have to still pay windstream something in order to get BRMEMC internet. Thanks so far for the input, hopefully someone will know for sure :)

You have several choices if located in the right area.

1-Landline Telephone connected internet, which only windstream provides.
2-Satelite connection, which satelite companies require a land line telephone.
3-Fiber connection which allows you to choose your service provider, but must have fiber to your home.
4-Cell phone internet which can connect wirelessly to your pc.
5-Cable tv also provides internet.

There may be more, or not.
